Q: Sim Card Failure No Sim with iPhone 4S Anyone Else?

Got the new 32GB iPhone 4S today from AT&T, activated the phone was working all morning, I started experimenting with Siri and a couple minutes later the phone was hotter than usual and I get Sim Card failure, and Bad SIM messages.  The phone now only says No Sim.  I get home take out the SIM card and put it in my previous iPhone 4 and it works just fine.  I then put in a blank micro SIM into the new iPhone 4S, but it still says NO SIM.  Thinking the SIM reader got fried some how already.

 

 

Anyone else have this problem maybe a bad batch out there, or I just got an unlucky lemon?

 

 

I made an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow, but I seriously doubt they will have replacement stock of the 4S already.  Guess I will find out what my next course of action will be tomorrow trying to get a replacement since new orders are taking 30 days to ship I am afraid I will have to wait awhile to enjoy the new features of my already paid for phone

    I tried hold home and power button for 40 seconds, Apple logo showed twice and after boot, I tried 3G interent, and it is now working, tried SMS and it was sent just in one second, when I had problems SMS sometimes sent in 5 seconds or never.. I will post next update if something changed. I also posted to ios developers forums..

    Тоже подозревал что проблема в симке. Еще кажется что телефон даже не меняет вышки, тоесть выйдя из дому и дойдя до работы он теряет сигнал и спасает перезагрузка. Ты не мог бы сфотографировать как выглядит чип на симке которая у тебя работает и как выглядит на симке которая не работает? Тогда пойду к своему оператору разбератся искать нужную сим карту. Я думаю по схеме на чипе можно определить тип карточки. Вставь или сюда как изображение или пришли мне на nockab[at]gmail.com . Буду очень признателен как и другие неудачлевые покупатели на этом форуме.

    Could you please make photo of both SIM - of one that does not work and of one that work. Maybe it is possible to show SIM chip scheme to mobile operator service guy and he would able to tell the difference and give SIM that will work.

    Я пытался получить карту, как у МТС, но у Мегафона таких карт нет.

    Тогда спрошу по другому. Я уже читал ту тему. У меня была пердыдущая большая сим карта как Russia Beeline 256k, но я её деактивировал и поставил себе микросим. Тоесть вопрос такой - работают оригинальные микросимки или в основном только определенные обрезанные полноразмерные?

    Я пробовал и обычные симки и микросим - картина одна и та же.

    Я сегодня поменял симку 64 (обрезанную) на 128 (тоже обрезанную) — все вроде заработало.

    Салют всем.

    Я тоже поменял симку и стало все работать без проблем.

    Был билайн (микро сим менял раза 3 и пробовал обрезать обычную симку.. Не помогало..)

    Потом купил микро сим МТС и все отлично заработало! 3 дня полет нормальный. Ни единого сбоя!

    Кстати ставил себе 5.1 beta ... не помогла.

    А сегодня получилось понизить прошивку на 5.0.1 (shsh сертификат разумеется был сохранен).

    Потестирую батарею на 5.0.1 с рабочей симкой.

    Интересовался у наших сотовых операторов про снимки 64 и 128к!

    Догадайтесь, что я услышал от них...)))

    Так что только методом тыка можно вылечить эту разборчивость айфона к симкам)

    It seems the only way to resolve this issue at the moment is chahging the sim card. Most probably your sim card is 64k and you need to change it to 128k sim card. It worked for me.

    Having the same problem. I bought the iPhone 4S 32GB in Geneva without contract, now using it in Brazil. Already changed the sim card twice without success. It is unbelievable that Apple doesn't said I word yet about the problem. Until now I feel I was cheated by Apple, hoping one fix comes to light as soon as possible...

    Tive o mesmo problema com a TIM, os chips da VIVO funcionam sem problemas. Mudei para a versão beta do iOS 5.1 e resolveu. Meu email é gino@macminds.com.br . Se quiser entre em contato para batermos um papo sobre o assunto.
