Q: Sim Card Failure No Sim with iPhone 4S Anyone Else?

Got the new 32GB iPhone 4S today from AT&T, activated the phone was working all morning, I started experimenting with Siri and a couple minutes later the phone was hotter than usual and I get Sim Card failure, and Bad SIM messages.  The phone now only says No Sim.  I get home take out the SIM card and put it in my previous iPhone 4 and it works just fine.  I then put in a blank micro SIM into the new iPhone 4S, but it still says NO SIM.  Thinking the SIM reader got fried some how already.

Anyone else have this problem maybe a bad batch out there, or I just got an unlucky lemon?

I made an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow, but I seriously doubt they will have replacement stock of the 4S already.  Guess I will find out what my next course of action will be tomorrow trying to get a replacement since new orders are taking 30 days to ship I am afraid I will have to wait awhile to enjoy the new features of my already paid for phone

Fixed!!! iPhone 4S displays 'No Service' or 'No SIM Card Installed'

    Update/Restore your iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) to (9A406)

Having same issue. And Quite disappointing with Apple - Since just switched from Nokia.

But at last I can solve it. Now I've not seen that error for more than 24hrs.

Follow the instruction from Apple Support below:

I'm now enjoying new phone with no regret!

I ran into this problem today.

iPhone 4 32 Gb (sim free - factory unlocked).

SIM card is ok. This is not a problem with a carrier because on my other phone, everything works.

Reset All Settings & Turing OFF/ON Airmode does not help.

    Any other solutions?

I've done Restore to factory settings via iTunes and now I can't even activate iPhone and use it like iPod. :/

It first asks me to enter a PIN code, and after successfully entering the correct PIN code displays No SIM card. : ((

Now I can not even make Restore to backup.

I've been having this problem for almost a month now, I restored the iPhone to iOS 5.0.1 (9A406), and still not fixed, It even got worse now I see the carrier and everything looks fine, but can't make calls or anything else...And after a while it says Invalid sim ! I bought my 4s factory unlocked October and it was working fine until the last 3 weeks..(Also replaced my micro sim but didn't work)

Don't really know what to do, a little help would be appreciated !

you can restore your iphone looking on the internet earlyer and found a website all you do if turn off your iphone unplugg it from your computer hold down your home button key and insert you cable to your computer (Keep you home button pressed down ) and it should come up with connect to itunes and itunes should say your iphone needs to be restored before using it on itunes and then you will be allowed to restore it

    Hope this helps

The iOS 5.0.1(9A406) thing hasn't fixed this "Sim Card Failure" issue! The only way for me when the problem occur is to restart my phone and I swear it only last under 24 hours before the problem pop up again =.=! This is getting ridiculous to restart the phone everyday just to make it look "right"

    Apple, FIX it!!

off-topic: Will I get a new replacement if report this to Apple store? I live in Taiwan btw.

I had this issue for almost 4 weeks, I was on 5.0.1-05 then went to 5.0.1-06 and it didn't solve it, I manage to get my udid registered by a friend who has developer account and upgraded to 5.1b3 it worked like charm; after one week restored back to 5.0.1-05 and before 12 hrs i got the same "sim failure" problem.

Diagnose: 5.0.1-x baseband firmware for some iPhone 4s hardware, I can tell you this because my wife has a 4s with 5.0.1-05 and hasn't experienced this trouble.

My recommendation is get your undid registered by a friend and upgrade, it's better be on a beta with all the services than having a very expensive iPod touch 4s.

Or wait until 5.1 is released to the public.

I hope this help you all.

    Best regards

5.1b3 firmware did not help me.

I'll try to get another SIM card tomorrow, but about a year everything worked perfectly with current SIM card on firmwares 4.х.х.

As I understand it is a problem not only iPhone 4S, I have iPhone 4 and many users have the same problem on iPhone 4 (without S) after upgrade firmware to 5.x.x.

Same problem in Germany with Vodafone.

Really do not know what to do. Already tried the official solution but it happens again with 90A406.

New sim card is on the way will let you know if I can solve it. This is my 3rd iphone in this year. 3rd time No Service - Sim failure message and can not make calls. I am really thinking about to sell all my apple devices and buy Samsung. Why is it so difficult to solve this?

In my case after what I can not activate my iPhone now and use it at least as iPod. But you may have better luck, for some users it help. I have iPhone 4 32 sim-free with Micro SIM from Megafon carrier (Russia).

Before I flash the iPhone to 5.0.1 it worked perfectly on 4.x.x firmwares.
