No iOS Devices - No iCloud Benefit
I only have, and use, an iMac – no i phones - pads - or pods – Of what benefit is iCloud to me?

Same here so are we missing thing?
Pretty much next to no use, except if you want to back
up bookmarks and such. At this inception of iCloud,
it is iPod/iPhone/iPad centric tool and really has no use
for a single Mac and has extremely limited use, if any,
if you own 2 Macs (say desktop and laptop).
Does iDisk go away with MobileMe next June? I was hoping many files I upload to iDisk would automatically upload to the Cloud when I modified them. Seems like we are iSOL.

If you ever do use more than one computer (Mac or PC), it keeps your contacts, calendars, bookmarks, email and notes in sync across all of them.
It gives you a free @me.com email address.
It gives you web access to your contacts, calendars, and emails from any computer.

Yes. This was announced way back on 6th June.

You don't consider the ability to sync contacts, calendars, notes, tasks and bookmarks between both computers seamlessly, for free, even slightly useful?
The issue is this, it does not sync between computers, only devices like iPhone & computer.
Of course it syncs between computers. What would make you think it doesn't?

Not when signing off wipes calendars from the computer.
As I said, "extremely limited".
BTW, what "tasks"?
Why on earth would you sign off if you want to use the service? You have to be signed in for it to sync.
Tasks = Reminders - in iCal.
I would say that having access to your calendar and address book from any computer would helpful.
Computers have lots of features that are not of use to everyone. For you, iCloud may not any usefulness.

That thread is referring specifically to iWork documents, not the contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, bookmarks and email we've been talking about in this thread so far.
Right. Some of us have been talking about the word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation documents we work with every day. That's the meat of this issue. How does iCloud benefit the work we do?
Maybe you should've mentioned you were referring specifically to the one aspect of iCloud that doesn't (currently) sync directly between computers earlier in this thread?
If syncing iWork documents is the only aspect of iCloud that interests you, then at this moment in time, using iCloud doesn't benefit you for that one specific task.
Personally, I think it's only a matter of time before Apple updates the iWork apps to sync directly with iCloud. The API's to allow it are there, I just think the application updates weren't ready for the launch last week.
