iCloud won't sync to my iPhone

Hi! I've migrated to iCloud and all my devices except my iPhone synced my contacts. I can see my contacts correctly on iCloud.com, on my 3 other Macs' address books. But none of my contacts shown on the iPhone contacts. I've enabled iCloud contacts sync on my iPhone, chosen delete all off the phone now it doesn't populate my contacts from iCloud. I've tried re-disabling and re-enabling again and again. It says activating contacts but its been two days and nothing happening. Is there any way?

Add my voice. iCloud and Macbook Pro working well together but nothing gets sent to or from my iPhone or iPad. This is very frustrating.

PS--I did have two apple IDs but I abandoned my me.com sign-on and am doing everything under a single gmail login. I exported calendars in iCal under mobile me and then imported to same names under iCloud. But nothing iCloud shows up on the ios devices.

Add my voice too. iCloud sync to two Macs and to a PC are working fine. iCloud sync to my iPhone and iPad not working. I spent 45 minutes talking with a Senior Support Specialist on Tuesday 10/18 and he said that there was only one other person reporting this issue (this seems hard to believe based on multiple forum threads). He had me try many things including resetting the settings on my iPhone; removing and adding the iCloud account; rebooting; etc. etc. and nothing solved the problem.

People have tried totally re-initializing the iPhone in other threads with no success at getting iCloud sync to device to work! So this must be a iCloud server side issue.

This is now day 5 of having my new iPhone without Contacts and I consider that toally unacceptable!

APPLE PLEASE DEVOTE SOME RESOURCES TO THIS SO THAT WE CAN BECOME HAPPY CUSTOMERS!

Some good news. My iphone now has all iCloud calendars and contacts. I deleted a test event on my iphone calendar and it very quickly disappeared from my icloud calendar. I refreshed iCal on my Macbook Pro and poof, the event was gone there as well. In addition, Find my Iphone (used via icloud.com) quickly finds my computer, my iphone and my ipad. Nice!

More good news: calendar and contact syncing is working on my iPad as well.

How did I accomplish this? I believe powering the devices off and restarting them helped, but I can't be sure. Also under Settings|iCloud, turning off Calendar and Contacts (delete stuff from iphone when offered choice) and then turning back on may have helped too. But perhaps ultimately patience was the main thing.

i'm glad it's working for someone. if the solution were just more and more people would be posting that it works. the problem is that it still doesn't work for a lot of peopple according to forum posts and threads and not for me either.

there is still no syncing and i think it is a bigger problem and probably server or software that is causing problems. my phone will simply freeze up if i try and delete icloud altogether from my phone. it will also freeze if i change a setting. then i have to manually close down the settings app. when i open it again it is still the same.

battery continues to lose charge at a much faster rate then ever before. i have tried turning of location services, notifications, deleted my exchange account, turned off push, etc... to no avail.

it seems that there may be a fix when 5.1 comes out. let's hope. as much as i love the iphone, this is unacceptable.

technotimber,

I feel your pain: 6 days with a new iPhone 4s and my Contacts are stuck in the iCloud.

I opened a suport case with Apple Care on Tuesday 10/11. I was able to speak with a Senior Support Advisor who confimed that there was only one other person complaining with the same symptoms. On Wednesday when I spoke with him there were 30 people who had complained. So Apple knows they have a problem.

I was asked to Restore my phone and to select the "Set up as a new phone" option, and then to try to sync my Contacts and Calendars. When I did this both the Contacts and Calendars application screens turned white and then timed out with the home screen after about 20 seconds. This indicates that both apps crashed. My Apple Advisor thinks that the issue is with the server software and that a fix may be possible sooner rather than later.

I will update this thread once there is a solution.

I have two tickets open with Apple, one with the iPhone group which is sort of in limbo while I try to trouble shoot the problem with the MobileMe/iCloud group... I'm not hopeful, it been two days since I first followed up with the MobileMe Senior Advisor asigned to my case and I haven't heard a peep from him.

On the bright side, my calendar and bookmarks have started syncing. Unfortunately, none of my reminders and only 64 of the 264 conacts in my address book have made it down to my phone.

Maybe it's time to fire off an e-mail to Tim Cook.

iCloud 'mostly' syncs my outlook calendar (Dell laptop) and contacts to the cloud.

iCloud will NOT sync from the cloud to my iPhone 4s.

I've tried many of the user 'fixes' listed here ... nothing really works.

My battery misses it's charge ... my iPhone and I miss our battery.

Can't access some of the sub-menus within Siri on the 4s.

Did you NOT test this stuff before you launched it?

These issues seem to be VERY basic - how could testing not catch these issues???

I used to love Apple ... starting to hate it now. Blah.

What drives me crazy is that my calendar syncs!!!! its only the bloody addressbook that doesnt... I mean, it does between icloud and my mac, but it doesnt on my iphone. And even weirder if I delete the icloud account the calendar wipes out, while all the contacts remain where they are.

So yesterday I restored the device and magically everything starts working fine... till I have the bad idea, today, to switch off the "mails" in icloud since it kept syncing sucking up all my battery... as for result the **** addressbook is now stuck again, and I guess there's nothing else to do but restore the iphone again.

Its soooo frustrating...!!!!

so here's the current word on the issue. first i was told by two different technical analysts that this is the first that they have heard of the problem. i mentioned that there quite a few reports in the forums and both people told me that the technical support staff do not look at the forums.

on to solutions, it has been a week and two days since this started with a phone call. a trip to the apple store to replace the phone and duplicate the problem in the store with a brand new phone fresh out of the box, which i got to keep. then back tp phone support. again, they duplicated the problem using my icloud account. it now sits in a senior analysts hands of which i have not heard back from yet other than to concirm that again the problem was duplicated.

the thought is that something happened server side during the conversion from mobile me to icloud. i considered opening a new icloud account, but then i would lose all of my storage. so, currently nothing syncs still and i am told that there is an issue. not much further than i was last week.

You can add me to the list of people affected. I can sync between iCloud and PC, iCloud and Mac but not the Calendar between iCloud and my iPhone 4. I have tried a total iPhone reset (back to factory) with no effect on the result. I have also added an event on my iPhone, but that does not appear in iCloud. I can only give this so long and I will have to go back to syncing with iTunes. The two things (iCloud and my iPhone) are communicating as Find my iPhone works perfectly.

You can add me to the list as well. My MacBook, iMac and a pc all sync but my iPhone and iPad won't. What is weird is that my phone has no contacts but I can find their e-mail addresses if I create an e-mail.

I have tried most of the things mentioned but I can not shut down my calendar or contacts. The little wheel just spins. So I think that the iCloud server does not detect the iPhone or iPad. It does not matter if it is on my LAN or over the cell network. I also wondered if it was the speed of my Internet but logging onto a faster network did not fix it.

I too have been without contacts or calendar for about two weeks. I spend most of my time out of the office so this has required a huge adjustment to how I work and how much time I waste. I am also having problems with my contacts duplicating. I think this by this morning my 2300 contacts had grown to about 5000. Two weeks ago it had hit 23,000 but most of the contacts were empty. I do not think these have come back since I deleted them. I will check again tomorrow.

I am sure that Apple now knows that they have an issue.
