How can I use my iPhone as a radio receiver without using internet?

As the iPhone does not have an AM/FM or shortwave radio receiver built in, you can use it to receive radio signals.

There are radio attachments available for the iPhone. Whether or not they work I don't know. Google.
unfortunately iphone doesnt have an am/fm receiver. and other radio apps use internet .. n even with those apps u cant listen to atc transmissions . coz they work on VHF and no phone is capable of receiving that kinda frequency . i would advice u to go to liveatc.net and downlaoad the app.. u can listen to live atc transmissions . enjoy mr aviator..

If it were only a question of software, I assume there would already be dozens of such apps on the jailbroken market, but there are none that I know of.
I'll put my money on it being a hardware limitation, rumor sites not withstanding.
What kind of radio waves do you want to receive?
Pandora works without internet and I think iheart radio will also
Totally agree even my basic Nokia phones all have a radio receiver! For a "smartphone" it's not very smart. I'm over it
