iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I am having the same problem. and I am tired of carrying my charging cable around everywhere I go..

And actually the most important thing is I feel uncomfortable with my phone. Always being on the edge, thinking when the battery will die, or adjusting my hours according to charging schedule of that thing or adjusting all the time the settings in order to save battery life.

I hate to say this, but I am starting to regret that I switched from nokia to apple. I simply can not enjoy my phone.

And I think I am not the only one. Hope Apple is trying to fix that thing.

When I wasn't using my phone, I would turn it on airplane mode. I could make a battery last for 3 days. All of a sudden I was having sync issues...a whole other problem! I ended up backing up everything and restoring my phone. It was restored with 5.0.1. I cannot get a battery to last for longer than 4 hours. I tried all the fixes with push and fetch. I have turned off cellular data. No difference. HELP...

Hello,

I had the same battery problem so I did what I read somewhere in this topic.

I emptied the battery and did a full restore (I did it with the last 5.1 beta but it will maybe be the same with the 5.0.1).

I charged it to full yesterday, it was still at 100% this morning and it's around 50% tonight with a "normal" web browsing/picture/news applications use (the iPhone indicates 4h51 in usage and 19h31 in standby).

Before this operation I was losing around 20% per night while sleeping and the battery was around 15% at the end of the day without really using my iPhone.

I don't know if it will last but it seems to indicate it's a software problem so a good news for me.

I recently got my self an iphone 4s. As mentioned in this thread i got the same battery draining issue. I dont know what do to anymore, i tried closing wifi, 3g, icloud, siri, ping, calender, automatical time zone notifaction and alot more. My old iphone 4 used last way longer. I took this printscreen and it says i have been using it for 15h?! i wasnt playing with apps, sending messages or making phone calls. the battery is draining on standby i dont what is causing it. so is this normal or what should i do?

I was in Houston, League City to be exact. It was an apartment building and the apartment unfortunately, is facing the wrong direction for the cell coverage tower. With my old iPhone 3, I received service there if I stood by the window. With the 4S I had to go outside to make and receive calls. Once I set up the Micro-cell, it allowed good five bar coverage, however. I can understand why people are frustrated. If you happened to be one of those with problems, it is very, very frustrating. But I love the iPhone 4S. It is unbelievable what all this phone does for you. I suspect the problem is that Apple bit off more than it could chew; it was almost inevitable that there would be bugs. I love Siri but will be glad when I can count on her 100% of the time. The camera is great. I am having a lot of fun with iMessaging because I didn't have a texting program (too expensive for my taste), so I am doing texting for the first time. But without question, Apple needs to find a solution to this battery issue so that everyone can enjoy their phone.

This really is nonsense.

I preordered by phone through AT&T two weeks before it's arrival.

It did not come in until first week in November (week after Halloween weekend).

Since Nov. 1, I am on iPhone 4S number 4. Yes, you read that right, number four. As in my fourth device.

Apple swapped my first phone the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Apple than swapped phones two and three out earlier this week.

Apple is claming that the chances of me receiving two bad phones back to back were better than odds of playing the lottery. Which I do not agree to.

I am now on iPhone 4S #4.

They have told me that it may be an iCloud issue but they're not sure.

Even the lead Genius at my local store is unaware.

As I said, I am on iPhone 4S #4, reached 100% charged last night, unplugged and woke up with 94% battery, everything closed - where did that 6% drain to?

I checked those stats last at 10PM last night, and picked up my phone near 7AM this morning - that's 8 hours, 6% drain.

Before I even left the door, I was down to 90% this morning.

It's now near 3PM, and my statitics are reading as followed:

Time since last full charge:

Usage: 3 hours, 48 minutes

Standby: 17 hours, 8 minutes

And I have 28% battery life remaining, running no applications at this time.

Push mail is off.

Fetch mail is manual.

Location services are minimal.

Notifcations are minimal.

iCloud is inactive, as in not logged in.

And since I've typed this message I've decreased from 30% to 27%.

What is wrong? Is it me? Am I doing something wrong on each and every phone?

I started from like new on my last two that I have had. Phone #2 was restored from iCloud, Phone #3 was started up as new, as well as Phone #4, and I synced contacts through Google on iTunes and nothing else because I lost my photos and messages after Phone #2.

I need some help.

I want Apple to answer.

This is ridiculous.

My local Apple store told me that there lead Genius doesn't have a clue! I don't know where to go.

No offense but you made my day with this. So much so I'm printing this for posterity. As I had read a new study showing twitter users were more and more depressed over time as the network evolved, there might be possibly other vectors of mental health issues in this new day and age, one of them being what one could call "smartphone unrest due to limited battery life" - and you explained quite well the symptoms. There's also "text neck" and many other more physical pathologies. One could only imagine what would happen during a full and lasting network outage. I think carrying some spare change for payphone use and identifying nearby internet cafes may yield some relief! So when the day happens panic can be avoided and solutions be provided.

Good luck!
