iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Yesterday after I had resolved the issue for my 4S I was asked whether I measured near 100% or beneath 96%. Tonight I can say that the drain does not speed up under 96%.

However, I had left home with my iPhone 4 (by mistake) and forgot my 4S at the charger, so I can't say how it behaves beneath 89%, where it is now. In 5 hours it dropped from 100% to 90%, now it's at 1% in 30 minutes, which is pretty much the same rate.

BUT... I noticed something else. My iPhone 4 is now on iCloud, too. And today it was discharging much faster than before. Not as fast as the 4S but significantly faster than the last time when I used it. I have to watch this tomorrow again, after a full recharge. In any case, it seems that my 4S battery drain is fixed. I hope it doesn't come back.

On another note, because some of you are new here, and obviously one can't expect to be reading 500 pages+ of posts etc, you might find some interest in this stuff I had put together here:

As far as petitions are concerned, I fail to see how this proves of any use. Yet it's your right to use such tools. I wouldn't know for sure, but I don't think the issues you're experiencing are so widespread - and if they were, the "lifestyle status" type of user won't notice all that much because he wields the device more than he uses it. The issues are compounded by expectations coming from the iPhone 4 usage, misleading specs, aggressive factory settings, lack of 3G toggle, poor app design from some devs with intense polling and hidden settings, flaky sanity of the restore procedure, mail ecosystem, malformed data, sim integration, and lack of education about Apple's best practices which in fact mitigate the specs. Finally there is clearly a trend of higher web browsing usage and more power users, while the PR promotes the device as a "little computer" whereas it's a novelty phone. And there's Apple's choice of hardware, especially the battery. Lately I've seen reference to the Qualcomm chip. It's a shame really some high level users speculate on electronics using words such as "probably", "possibly" and such - they should stick to repeating stuff in the KB to earn points. The Qualcomm chip is not lacking a feature or anything like that - and in any case Apple chose the chip and exactly knew what they were doing.

Good luck!

Your response has nothing to do with the conversation at hand. If you don't like smartphones, then why post on an iPhone board?

Just sayin'.

Well, the forum is about "using the iPhone" and public health considerations might not be what people are focused on, but especially this time of the year, the conversation at hand should be that those hands could be washed because I've witnessed myself smartphone users going to the toilet holding their phones etc - and most likely using them while in there. Well all know this. So in the UK studies have shown that smartphones are the most dirty of objects in terms of bacteria and I've never seen anyone disinfecting his phone - they just clean the screen for looks. And then I have to deal with smartphone users in my everyday life. I don't like them but I have to deal with them!

Just sayin'.

Ha! Apple moderators are now deleting posts. There was a post here about someone who started a petition and it has been deleted.

This is not a way to act, fix the problem with the phone, that will stop all these complaints.

I have had the 4S for over 2 months (it is a replacement, first one battery was shocking). In these 2months I have never reached 40hrs of standby, the phone will NEVER come even to 1/3 of the specs, that is theft.

Again, moderators stop DELETING posts and join your fellow engineers to fix the phone 😝

PS. Please don't delete my post too 😀

I switched from an Android phone to this phone thinking the battery would dramatically change. Boy was I wrong. This has been the worst decision I have made as far as phones go. The lack of response from Apple is what I do not understand. If this battery continues to drag on I will make sure everyone I know that ask I will recommend they go a different route. My brother has a brand new Galaxy S2 and his battery last a complete 24hrs. I wish my phone would last that long. As of right now I'm at 14 hrs standby and only 4 hrs of usage with 10% left. Pretty pathetic. This is soon becoming my last iPhone.

I have lost 30% battery in the past 45 minutes. Most of that time was standby. I think I might take this issue to a news source. Undisclosed so that apple may not get into their pockets prematurely. If apple doesn't turn these problems around, they will lose customer base. It may not be significant enough for them to care now, but if the 5 has similar issues I can see apple taking a sharp dip in stock value. From now on I'm going to wait a few months after apple releases products to get news on any issues they have. Then I will know if it's worth my money.

Also, apple can delete these posts, but if you are subscribed for email you get a copy straight to your inbox. They can hide the posts unless the unsubscribe everyone from email updates. It would be easier to just close this thread, but then another one would open. It seems like them deleting posts is also infringing upon a right? I could be wrong, but it is a bit oppressive. The mods are the secret police, this may be my last post.
