iPhone 4s Battery Life?

I heard that the problem might be with the missing 3g toggle button in ios5. Latest ios 5.1 beta 3 seems to have shown good battery performance according to some iphone developers. As its confirmed that the ios 5.1 will have have a 3g toggle just like iphone 4 have.

It could be...for some users.

In my case, i don't think it is because i have the Celular Data most of the times Off, which turns off 3G...

We are ll having these issues with the battery on iPhone 4s..

If this goes on to persist after we have done everything to save our battery life to pull least 8-12 hours..

Apple should take a call and conside replacing all our phones..

They are not cheap and the purpose of using the instrument for all purposes are not met..

Just using it as a phone is not the reason we bought them..

All the show of various things we could do is trully phenomenal..

We bought them for that..

But if the battery cant support this usage..

It is a total let down...

Its time for Apple to decide how they could go about making the right changes and decision..

Coz clearly, most iPhone users are not very pleased with spending this much money for a lost cause...

Ive managed to virtually eliminate the standby drainage keeping wifi off when I don't need it and turning other unnecessary features off, but my main problem is the battery drainage while using the phone. No matter what I'm doing on the phone, I experience 1 percent drainage every 3 minutes (sometimes it only takes 2 minutes). I hope the new iOS update does something about this.

If you charge your phone over night you will a have a combined standby/usage time of 16 hours. With every full charge the life of the battery get worse (count the load cycle).

If you want to avoid damaging the battery you have to try use the phone from full to empty - if you get 30 hours it will be next in the middle of the day empty, this is the problem! This is why i mean i "need" 40 hours, this will be 2 days and one night = charging every second day over night.

We had two 4s, i was the "heavy user" and my wife used the iphone only like an ipod (NO cellular data plan, Wifi, BT, Text or calls, simply NOTHING) - just 1h20min per day music, the brick was after 30h empty :-(.

I had to laugh as the genius adviced to shut off the equalizer - but after that i read that also on the german page from apple. This is poor and ridiculos.

And yes you are too easy and you don't want to understand the problems of the user. Please read, understand and after that maybe write something usefull.

Hi, has anyone updated 4S to latest 5.1 beta 3? Is there any improvement for battery life on 4S for this latest beta?

I just saw some reviews in german, they mention the 2G-3G toggle and also a stabilization of the drain, but not a "dramatical" improvement.

I took out my iPhone 4S from the charger at about 8:20AM (my timing) and right now it is 3:40PM and I currently have 79%. I had 3 phone calls, one for 40 seconds, another for 59 seconds, and the third for 13 minutes, which results in a total of 14 minutes and 39 seconds call time. This is the only thing I did with my phone so I didn't open any apps and all apps are closed in the background. There is clearly a huge battery drainage problem with my iPhone and I tried about everything that says in this post.

The only reason to discharge Li-ions/Li-pos is to give your battery meter more accuracy. They still shouldn’t be run all the way to shut off, if anything just on the off chance the low-current protection circuit fails, thus doing permanent damage to the battery. If you’re not going to use a Li battery for a while, store at 60% charged in a cool place.

You can't run the Li Ion in the iphone to 0%, the iphone get shut off by system management - it apears to have 0% but the Li Ion has more %.

That certainly is excessive. If you have easy access to an Apple Store, you might want to make an appointment to have the phone checked out. Meanwhile, check earlier messages for things you can try yourself.

Unless you have just about everything turned on, 10%/hour is way more than is reasonable. Even with light use, mine uses only about 1.5%/hour.

settings>general>date and time>set automatically>turned off. that's it.
set manually your location.

it solves the battery drain issue for me now i am 7hrs standby on 92% battery indicator.
