iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Yeah very true. Also the battery meter and usage meter is not accurate anyway. Its all over the place. Example. check your usage, then make a call and time it. Then go back and check again. On mine the phone calls seem to get left off the usage meter. One day in particular I was showing 30 min usage and like 15+ hrs std by, but had talked for 60 minutes (verified by call logs) not to mention other things I did. Anyway, point is that the meters seem to be very inaccurate at least part of the time. So would not put a whole lot of merit on them currently.

It's really a waste of time to do analysis before 0% really. A long time ago there was a guy here who looped a video file from the web to exhaust his battery life and he remained at 1% for an hour+

No offense, but you guys lack methodology. You might stay on a certain percentage for an extended period of time then drop 15% in the following hour and such.

Right now iPhone 4S lasts ~200 hours if one keeps Wifi and Cellular Data off all the time which is not realistic! What is the point of buying and super expensive iPhone 4s if one keeps off wifi and Cellular data off all the time? Bragging?

How come that iPhone 4s is so much worse compared to iPhone 4?

Why do you say the iPhone 4S is 'super expensive'? It is priced consistently with the majority of comparable Android, Windows, and BB phones. If you want 'super expensive' try the Motorola RAZR Maxx, which starts at over $300 (US) on a 2 year commitment. But then it has a HUGE battery.

prhunte42, He actually has a good point. If you add your city to the weather and turn off local, it just tells you the weather for that city without using GPS whenever you open the weather app It does update tho. Otherwise if you dont add a particular city (your home or work) every time you fire off weather it uses GPS then updates weather. So again, to your point earlier, if you are pretty stationary, just set your city and turn off local and that will definitly help due to it firing up GPS every time you check weather. Well not if u only check once a day but...........

4. Click weather and turn off local weather. Set your area in the weather list. If using local weather, it always run the GPS.

I have location services on for most of my programs. Many do need it on to function, and local weather isn't very useful if the phone can't see where it is. However, ONLY 'sex offenders' and 'weather' have checked the GPS location in the last 24 hours, so I can't see that is going to make a major drain on the battery.

Um because you despise the 4s and are convinced it dont work and wont work. Say you cant sell or return it. You have stated many times that the 4 is superior. And until the 4s came out the price was exactly the same. So I thought maybe this would help you since you stated you cannot get a refund now and seem to be happy with the 4. Loose money, well if you truly have a phone you cannot use you would be a lot better off having one you can use therefore not be loosing money. It was just a suggestion enx. Of course you can keep the 4s and continue to complain about it. Certainly your choice.

Why would I swap iPhone 4s with a iPhone 4? iPhone 4 is cheaper than iPhone 4s and by doing this I would loose money!

I want full refund for my iPhone 4s which has a miserable battery life, static noise issues, and unbeliveable bad call quality!!! It is not my fault or your fault that Apple sold me such a bad iPhone 4S!

If he sold it, he wouldn't have a reason to gripe.

This is a perfect example of "aggressive factory settings" and of the "Apple experience" going too far. The data should be extracted from asking you during the 1st config/activation, and GPS guessing should be an option. When you install an OS it asks you for your city. I don't get Apple.

You're saying seems good? More like amazing! That's way too good! Please tell me what you did to get an extraordinary battery like that.

Well, he managed to reset the phone when it was not done charging, so he isn't really getting a reliable reading since the phone doesn't doesn't have a valid 'reference point' to determine the charge level.

Beetch18, my iPhone is nearly always on standby as I barely use it. I check Twitter about 2 times a day, 5 minutes each time, get a few texts and reply back, and call for about 15 minutes a day. That's barely any use and I have battery drainage although I think I figured out a solution that I will "reveal" later when I fully investigate it.

This may, I'll say it again, may be the solution to the drainage and again, I didn't investigate it fully but I'll tell you what I did. I restored my iPhone as a new phone and didn't install any third-party application, music, videos, or contacts so basically, my iPhone is 'fresh' or 'clean'. I then noticed a huge battery drainage, possibly 3% in less than 30 minutes and I then checked every single setting in settings to see if anything's wrong.

I went to [Settings>General>Restore] and then Erase All Data And Settings. So that's all. I think this is the fix. I will check my phone tomorrow morning, it's 10:52PM local time now.

(To make it clear: I restored as a new phone from iTunes, then erased all data and settings from the iPhone.)
