iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

2Days for moderate usage of 8hrs what i mean for moderate is Playing games for 1-3hrs, internet web browsing for 1-2hrs, music for 1-2hrs w/ call and heavy text. for a total of 8hrs usage. u can have batery life longer in standby by not using ur phone. all in all just plain text and standby mode only.now my phone usage: 2hrs and 1Day standby @85% battery as of now. i only text few like 10 messege and used the MP3 for 15mins. hahaha. i will give screen shots after i finish my experiments. i will try not to used much of my phone liek Games , Internet ETC.

Mark,

Not to be a jerk about this, but WHO CARES? If you stop using your phone and get 4 or 5 days out of a charge, what does it matter? Why would I want an iPhone, if not to actually use it? Regardless of your experiments, Ace will not get 8 days out of the phone unless he:

1. turns it off

2. leaves it in Airplane Mode for long stretches.

Neither of those strategies is acceptable to me, for living with the phone. I don't grasp the logic in spending several hundred dollars for a phone, to use as a decorative item sitting on the table, un-used............

yup i knw. but i want to know also how many days does standby all about. beside my phone mainly used for text and call only. so even i dont get 8days of standby i may self can calculate if the 8days is accurate or not. defenitly i thought about my phone only getting 5days of standby cuz im not totally in standby mode. im using it to text. im not in airplain mode.much more im happy w/ my battery already. im using it full days. w/o having it charge. after 50% i think i will post the result and stop experimenting it. =) i also cant hold on of not Using my phone for more than 3days.lol

I asked how to put the screen shot in this forum. I honestly don't know how.

1AppleADayNoWay replied "Why bother?"

If someone wants to see the screen shot, advise me how to do it, but meanwhile:

Usage: 2 hours, 28 minutes

Standby: 5 days, 16 hours

Percentage remaining: 51%

It looks like 8 days will be a cinch, but excuse me, I have to make a call.

my only point here is to prove ace that the 8days of standby can be achievable but not in a (full) used of the phone. / not even using the phone.so he can stop bragging about his phone reach 8days of battery usage. but he did'nt mension that he's not using it. lol. cuz is not possible. there is 8hrs in usage bcuz some apps running at the prog. even if you set it airplain mode. or ur not using the phone totally. aslong as u used ur phone 4-7hrs usage straigth it is still normal and conciderable. depending on how many hrs it will be in standby!

Actually, I'm not lying at all. Neither am I turning the phone off or keeping it in

Airplane mode all the time. What I AM trying to do is find a way to manage

the battery capability and still use the phone productively. I decided early on

to stop whining about the battery life and instead find a way to deal with it.

This thread is analogous with one in which car owners complain of their

auto battery going dead after leaving the headlights on all night. My phone

does go into Airplane mode every evening because it saves the battery

and eliminates me getting calls I neither want nor need.

that's the diff in our test. im not using airplain mode or neighter get the cp off. im using it as a normal phone w/ signals for call and text. now im sure how u get the 8days standby.lol. @ angelofFate it is not normal for ur phone to drop 2% overnight in airplain mode. is ur phone hit up? some things wrong w/ it observe it. btw im still at iOS5.1 version..

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Here we begin to see the truth starting to trickle out from Ace....... Airplane Mode for the night, which disables 95% of it's functionality. Unfortunately, the vast majority of users need (or want) a working phone during the night.

I just love when these people post amazing battery life stats, only to release the true details only when pressed and challenged.

Still waiting for the screen capture, by the way Ace..............

Why? Do you really NEED to go 8 days without using your phone? Do you need to go 8 days without recharging? Most people want to USE their phones. Some use them a lot (it doesn't matter what they use them for), and others use them relatively little. THose who use them a lot are going to get less time between charges than those who don't use them much. You don't get something for nothing. I don't like to discharge my phone below 60% because I don't want to worry about having enough battery to get through an unusual situation.

Last night when I went to sleep my phone was at 100% and when I woke up this morning it was sitting at 65% in airplane mode! It usually drops 2% overnight with airplane mode on and 12% overnight with airplane mode off. What's going on? Is this a result of the most recent update 5.1.1? This has never happened to me before..

Something is running in the background that should have terminated. Do a reset. That should correct the problem.

That is a prefectly valid use for the phone. If you don't want calls, then you achieve your goal, and save battery power in the bargain. Now it doesn't matter if mine is using power for the radios at night because it is plugged into the charger at that time. Only time it goes to aiplane mode is when I am in a facility that requires 'turn your cell phones off'. I figure if it good enough for the airlines, it is good enough for the hospital, and I can still read, or play solitaire.
