Who would have thought that for hitting 1M hits on the thread, we'd be rewarded by a bunch of condescending PR reps? I was expecting something elevating, free vouchers or what not... But no.
"Thin is the way to go" - I heard that. Thin and gloss is for girlies. And honestly the 3.5" format is being outclassed. This world is evolving towards the 4 - 4.3" format and newer technology for displays. With a bit of common sense, you can fit a bigger battery in a slightly bigger phone, and save your users some money. They paid a lot already. In other parts of the world, people come up with new features, like Fujitsu and their water resistant smartphones... If the trend continues, the next Apple phone will be the size of the latest Nano iPod. Yes you can be proud of your postage stamp sized shiny phoney.
"5 hours is ok for picking up where amazing left off and all devices yield that" - Apple's marketing contradicts the specifications for its new device. If you say the device picks up where amazing left off, yet that is not the case in terms of battery life, and what matters to most users is having the extra battery life, and much more so than doubling the frames in a game you'll be playing a couple of hours before plugging the device to AC, then the device is subpar. Furthermore, Apple users were used to having better battery life than average. This was one key element to claiming the device was better than a Android handset, especially as Steve had painted out Android as being basically the same OS than iOS. Then if it is similar it is no longer better. Then you can't bash Android devices in that respect. You can't have your cake and eat it.
"The iPhone beats Android device in every respect" - well, some people be to differ, like your pal Steve Wozniak - http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/01/14/even-woz-thinks-the-android-bes ts-the-iphone.html - he notes GPS/Navigation/Maps as one key element where Android does better. Of course, for grandma and grandpa, he recommends the iPhone. Plus everyone knows ICS brigded a lot of the shortcommings that OS had in comparison to iOS. There's also Windows Mobile which you would hope does better at key elements like Exchange mail and Office product integration. Also of interest is Anandtech noting that the 4S has more background noise during calls than the 4 - but for some here that may not be important because it's all about gloss, Siri and Infinity blade. Productivity and calling is not so important. Value is not important, specifications are not important, battery life is not important... so what is important in the end?
Bling is what this is called.
