Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    I don't need Siri.

Comparisons seem OK on paper but it becomes a different affair entirely when run with real handsets in real life. iPhone is just better.

This discussion has got me worried for some time, but when I realized this is partly due to activities of trolls, I now am peaceful and will buy an iPhone with no much worries about it battery like (knowing that it's better than competitor's).

So after resetting my battery I got.

    Usage: 5 hours, 50 Minutes

    Standby: 2Days, 6 Hours

    13% battery still left

    Before I got:

    Usage: 6 hours, 30 Minutes

    Standby: 1Days, 4 Hours

    1% battery left

Yep look back through and you will see exact comments over and over and over. Oh well most of the regulars here are getting used to it and just scroll past. Unfortunatly for new folks who come here they get mis information. Thats too bad. Support forums are really designed for getting support and assistance for a given product. Thats why folks visit. Not to be brainwashed over and over how the item they just bought is broken and always has been broken and always will be broken and will never work as expected and how every other product they didnt purchase is better.

Hopefully people can see through this and realize its not all truth and the majority of devices work as expected and with some tips and tweaks others get resolution as well.  And yes there are still some with faulty devices that need to be replaced under warranty so it seems. Its unfortunate and Apple should really monitor these forums and force them to pertain to support, help and assistance for folks needing it and remove the other BS.

I Russia, we have govermnent-paid bots, people who post things and flame in support of Vladimir Putin and his United Russia party. It seems that Android makers adopt the same strategy - trying to outpost Apple customers. Or so it seems, reading some comments... :-)

Apple, since you dont use one I will shed a shimmer of light on 1 subject. The smaller display is easier to mange one-handed. Yes operate with thumbs while holding it and carry your beer in other hand A bit more difficult with the larger screens. Plus the Retina display is more advanced than anything out there visually. Just sayin.

Oh and I was expecting a free update to 5.1 after the million . oh well...................... maybe 1.5 million is the magic #

Who would have thought that for hitting 1M hits on the thread, we'd be rewarded by a bunch of condescending PR reps? I was expecting something  elevating, free vouchers or what not... But no.

"Thin is the way to go" - I heard that. Thin and gloss is for girlies. And honestly the 3.5" format is being outclassed. This world is evolving towards the 4 - 4.3" format and newer technology for displays. With a bit of common sense, you can fit a bigger battery in a slightly bigger phone, and save your users some money. They paid a lot already. In other parts of the world, people come up with new features, like Fujitsu and their water resistant smartphones... If the trend continues, the next Apple phone will be the size of the latest Nano iPod. Yes you can be proud of your postage stamp sized shiny phoney.

Great news. Glad its working for you now. The firmware reset probably fixed it. Also I have read from others that WhatsApp is a known offender for poor battery life. So keep that in mind.

FINALLY, the iphone gave me usage stats today for the first time. I did upgrade to 9A406 firmware yesterday so hopefully that fixed the reason why I was not getting usage stats. Considering I made 122 minutes worth of calls today, I think these stats are not too bad and 9A406 has shown me a definite improvement on battery life (so far). I still have 27% battery left which is ample for mail, whatsapp, a call or 3 and some browsing tonight still.

I have a new iPhone 4S Version 5.0.1 (9A406)  and the battery drains too fast, 100% at 8am and 20% by 3 pm

siri OFF, location OFF, notifications OFF, push OFF, brightness Auto, I did everything that apple says on the web page.

nothing works. did the cycle thing 2 times...everything.

Terrible issue with the battery, I have to charge the phone 3 times a day....any solutions?

    Thanks

Because this is a user-to-user forum. Apple Tecks (sic) rarely, if ever, post here.

    Yuri,

Don't worry about that 'static noise' nonsense.

5h heavy usage is ok, pretty much as expected. If you need to have your iPhone slim, then a battery powered jacket is very good idea -- otherwise you may either carry an external battery (there are many offered) or just look for a plug around.

Just follow the guide here if you need to conserve power: http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

Perhaps Reset Network or if this does not work even full reset of the phone with Restore in iTunes?

    What does your Usage show?
