Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    Hi Guys.

I would like to share some details with you as I think it is closely related to the battery drainage. I am talking about Infrared light that switches ON after opening an application. There are some applications in my iPhone, such as Skype, LinkedIn, PayPal, Czech dictionary and also original application "Messages" and more, that cause switching ON the infrared light. After swithing the application(s) OFF the infrared stays ON - similarly when using Siri - so only hard reset helps turn the infrared light OFF. Then the infrared stays OFF until you switch ON any of above mentioned applications. I am sure there are many and many similar applications that cause swithing ON the infrared light. I found this problem out by looking at the iPhone (infrared light) by means of my camera display and turning the applications ON and OFF one by one. I am very sorry if you talked about this before and you are aware of this problem, but is there any solution? OR, is there any application that IS able to control (switch OFF) the infrared light? You can switch OFF all the settings before mentioned (location services and so on), but with infrared light ON it is for nothing. MY OS is 5.0.1. 9A406.

    Many thanks for any help!!

    Thank you, Jan

I bought my 4s 5 days ago and I am really disappointed :(

Is apple going to fix this or what? I was a BlackBerry user and I wish I stayed with BlackBerry.

Do I have to read the 10k replies to know how to fix it or there is no way to fix this problem?!

Is apple aware of the problem? Are they going to fix it or that's it, we are stuck with what we have???

    RIP STEVE JOBS!

Apple have fixed the issue in 5.1 firmware update. I am a developer who has a pre-release beta installed and it works perfectly.

9A406 is the latest consumer firware download for the 4S this can be downloaded off iTunes when you restore your device. It may help but 5.1 will have the big fixes included.

Had 4s for 1 week. no additional apps. Everything turned OFF except device. From 9pm - 6am Battery drained from 100% to 45% with no usage. Have done resets with no positive results. 1st Apple device ownership. Not impressed so far. Expect sub-standard from Microsoft. Is Apple related now?

Still happy with my battery life. I've usually charged every night, but for the last week I've only charged when it has gone flat and the battery life has been great.

That seems nice indeed.. -Wish I had it like that

I have upgraded to 9A406 through iTunes yesterday, and even though that seems to improve battery life a little bit for me, It's almost empty again. (fully charged yesterday, now I'm at almost 5 hours usage and 12 hours standby; which is an improvement, but is not close to what you have on yours)

I suppose you dont use that ios5.1 beta release.. but this is on a 5.01... right?

Yes it's on 5.01, sorry I didn't make it clear.

I'm also on 9A406. I couldn't tell you if 9A406 has improved things for me as it wasn't something I really worried about. I can't ever remember my iphone being nearly flat in 1 day and as I say I used to charge every night out of habbit.
