Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    Hi enx23

i was reading the last ..maybe 20 pages on this thread, and i was at first reading your posts, hoping to find something interesting or a clue maybe to people who need some help (like i first needed before solving my battery issue).

but really tell us, why are you spending all this time just ...mmm...i don't know the exact term here, cause i'm basically frensh educated....but i mean just keeping on "disturbing" people who need very specific help.

I used to have many flagships, from the early SE 800 and 910 to Nokia n97 n900 e72, then got my Galaxy S, and kept it for a year and 2 months, before i tried and really tested iphone 4 from my coleagues at office, and i was first amazed by the display of course and the piece of arts in itself as a flagship, the quality that i never felt in any other phone, then i looked what's inside, cisco vpn and telephony, HD wonderful games, the camera that beats the by far GS2 8 mpx and all the features this piece has.

forgot to mention that i got just after my GS the GS2 for just 3 days, the 3rd day i traded it with iphone 4, wich after 5 months or so trade it with iphone 4S, and yes it the most amazing phone i ever had, without really explaining why, cause everyone who owns it knows what i am saying.

so please man, stay a bit away, if you are not payed (wich i'm pretty sure you are) to do this kind of "disturb" here, just stay away, you can always read the thread, but stop ....your useless paragraphs.

if you don;t have any other work to do, find yourself something:)

cheers and have a wonderful day, look out and enjoy, APPLE was is and will ALWAYS be the BEST (these are facts, and not opinion:)

hey, and don't get mad, ok?

    ciao

The battery life of iPhone 4s is horrible compared to the battery life of iPhone 4!!!!!

Now, please share with us: how many iPhone 4 units did you own? How many iPhone 4S did you own?

How long did you use any of these regularly, in the same environment/applications/settings.

    What are your findings?

People here do not need your conclusions. Facts please.

The battery life issue of iPhone 4s and/or static noise issue are hardware issues which cannot be fixed by software updates, resets, restores, etc.

Everyone knows, that 'battery' is an hardware piece, not software. Thanks for trying to remember that for a while.

I asked you several times to describe what exactly you mean by 'static noise' -- you provided two 'static noise problems' that you read about in another thread.

One of 'static noise' problems you describe and insisted that everyone here test their phone with your designed test, has in fact nothing to do with 'static noise' -- if it ever exists (I can't reproduce it on my device) it is caused by transformer vibration and is to be expected in any electronic device that uses voltage up converters. It may be sometimes annoying and if it is very loud, you might get an improvement by replacing the device, because such vibration canot be eliminated by software although, by software you may change the frequency and reduce the resonances. In any case, I will be very surprised if an iPhone 4S, that has not been dropped etc, is experiencing similar transformer vibration noise.

The other case of 'static noise' is in fact fault of the carrier, in the first place -- to not properly prioritize voice traffic in their network and may, in some cases be related to poor quality codec within the iPhone 4S software (might be in the modem firmware as well). On both sides, the carrier and the iPhone -- this is purely software problem/configuration and can be fixed with software.

I suggested gently that if one thinks that one might have the battery life issue then one should get a new replacement or get a refund! It might be that Apple has fixed hardware issue quietly by now (the battery life issue of iPhone 4s is quit old by now and it started last year) and the new iPhone 4s might be free of the these kind of issues!

Did you exchange your iPhone 4S? What was the result?

Litium-ion batteries reach their full capacity after some 10 or so full cycles. That may explain in part your findings...

    @*uckgirl722

One does not have to be genius to realize that not all people come back, and that some people's batteries actually do get fixed

The batteries of iPhone 4s are fine! the issue is with the battery life of iPhone 4s. The battery of iPhone 4s lasts so short time because there are faulty components in iPhone 4s which draw more energy than they were designed to!

This is not about fixing the batteries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You say it's statistics - your statistics involve only the group of people with battery problems that come back - you are ignoring the people who never had problems, and those who manage to fix it.

I suggest to read carefully my posts I have never written here that all 100% of iPhone 4s are affected by the battery life issues. So I am saying the 80% of iPhone 4s are affected by the battery life issue and/or static noise issue! This implies that 20% are not affected! I did not ignore the people who have never had problems! Please read very very carefully my posts!!!

They exist, you know What kind of math is that? Again like you said, one does not have to be genius to know this

It is a very simple math.

    100% = all peopel who own a iPhone 4s

80% = people which I say are affected by the battery life issue of iPhone 4s

20% = 100%-80% are people which are not affected by the battery life issue of iPhone 4s

As one may see I considered both cases and one does not have to be genius to see this!

One does not obviously like my exclamations marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest gently that if one does not like my exclamation marks then one should not read my posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't say I disliked them or anything.

I wrote "one does not like my exclamation marks!" Did I write that "you do not like my exclamation marks"? I did not! I suggest that you should read very very carefully my posts!

I'm just saying that exclamation marks are used for, well you know, exclaiming, yelling.

I looked into the English dictionary and there is no such thing as exclamation mark or point being used for yelling!

Hey, who doesn't like getting high-fives from friends? It's a fun thing to do.

This is really sad to read something like this! One thinks that is really fun to give high fives on a forum where people come to complain about their issues!!!!!!

And who are you to tell me what not to give in this forum?

Have I? Please, show me the post where I told you this?

I suggest that one to judge the posts and not the people who write those posts.

I am judging your posts and I think they are silly.

I do not care what you think about my posts!

I don't know nor do I care who you are or how high your degree of education you have or how smart you are.

I am happy for your that you are happy with that!

This is a belief, belief like in religion! Do not take it wrong because it nothing bad about believing!

    of "disturb" here,

This is a forum about the battery life issue of iPhone 4s. I am complaining here about how bad the battery life of iPhone 4s is! Who I disturb? The people who are on this forum who think that iPhone is the best phone ever?

    your useless paragraphs.

If one does not like my posts please to not read them! It is simple as that!

cheers and have a wonderful day, look out and enjoy, APPLE was is and will ALWAYS be the BEST (these are facts, and not opinion:)

These are believes! Apple got eggs thrown at its store in China. Apple has horrible record regarding the worker conditiones of its subcontractors! Apple got slapped with a huge fine in Italy for bad customer service. Apple has a huge forum with complains regarding the battery life issue of iPhone 4s and chose to do nothing about it and not even acknowledge it! Even that iPhone 4s was launched last year even this year there is no permanent fix for the battery life issue and/or static noise issue of iPhone 4s!

How do you know that the battery issue will come back?

If one would spend some time to read the posts on this forum then one will see that this forum is full of posts of peopel who did restore/resets/updates/etc. and declared their iPhone 4s free of battery life issue after 1-36 hours! The same people later came back and wrote that the battery life issue came back! One does not have to be genius to see this!

Did you actually purchase that "super expensive" iPhone, or you just looked at the price and went to "complaint" forums to convince yourself you did well to not buy it?

If you had actually purchased an iPhone and used it, you would soon realize that all you wrote so far is FUD.

Instead of telling you fairy tales of someone else's post about someone else's perhaps experience with some iPhone 4S, why not just restrict yourself to your own experience with your own iPhone 4S?

So, how does your iPhone keep up with the defective Qualcomm chip? How long does it live after full charge? What are your settings? What apps do you use and how often? How soon did the Qualcomm chip become defective again on your very own iPhone -- after you seemingly cured your battery problem, that is?

How many iPhone 4S's did you return for exchange and what is your observation with regards to the newer units? Did they also have that same defective Qualcomm chip, that.. as you read somewhere, cannot be fixed by software.

Do all your replacement iPhone 4S's have the 'static noise'?

The exclamation mark, exclamation point, bang, or dembanger is a punctuation mark usually used after an interjection or exclamation to indicate strong feelings or high volume (shouting), and often marks the end of a sentence.

okay so i was surprised to see such a long thread for this topic and i thought that the discussion is really worth a look... and to my dismay I found that they were not talking about the battery life anymore...

anyway, for the battery life of the iPhone4S, we all know that it *****. yes it does especially when you're travelling. for the meantime, we are still hoping and crossing our fingers that they could do something about this... and of course, for the meantime, what they do is tweak this obvious flaw in the software (which actually helps.. helps but does not solve anything at all..)

this is a challenge for the developers and engineers, how can they increase the battery life without acutally increasing the battery size!
