Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I have the same issues. The battery life is just terrible. I regret buying the 4S.

As I said, just take the phone to a Apple store and ask for an exchange. Same advise goes to all who have a bad battery and can't find a solution to fix it. That's what I did and I'm happy with the replacement phone I got - so far

I understand it must be really Frustrating. I had Battery drain the first day, but then i did a complete Factory Reset and  Discharged till the phone switched off then i put it for Charge at around 11pm and unplugged it at around 8 A.M! And ever Since the performance has been Great. If this does not work go get it Exchanged. Very few users are facing the battery issue.

I know that I am extremely thick but I thought that when you pressed the home button you closed the app. Not so. Double click it and all the apps. running in the background scroll across the screen. Using the normal delete process on those icons quits the programs. Because I didn't realise EVERY SINGLE APP ON THE PHONE WAS RUNNING. No wonder I had no battery life. Der!!! eh.

I thought that. But it's only half true. Some apps will continue to run in the background but some will close. It depends on the state the app developer told it to run in when "closed".

I disabled 3G by calling my network provider because it is really expensive. But nevertheless the battery life you seem to get is absolutely absurd. When I was in 3G battery life was not as good but seemed "okay". Did you try a complete factory reset? I suggest-

    1. You do a factory reset and delete everything on your phone.

    2. Do not install any apps, try using it like that and see how your phone performs.

    3. Manually fill in the contacts, I know it is a pain but it seemed to work for a few people I know. If everything fails just get it exchanged.

Hey, yea From now I knew that but did not think it would make much of a difference anyway will shut down the apps from there too and see how things work.

When you reset settings, this does not erase you data from the phone. Just the adjustments you (or some app) did.

There is absolutely no relason to enter your contacts manually to improve battery life. Contacts themselves do not consume any energy. If your contacts are stored only on the phone, you may wish to sync to iCloud and then contacts will come back from there. Or you might have the contacts in iTunes and if you completely erase the phone, just sync to Itunes.

Yeah by Reset i mean erase all content and setting.

Obviously contacts do not consume energy but i read somewhere that there couldve been a bug in one of the contacts causing the battery drain. Anyway its all trial and error the battery is issue is resolved! Some one tried a lot of things including this and something worked for her.

Whatsapp is known to cause battery drainage...you should try uninstalling it.

Apple has recognized the battery problems (due to software), and, as employees of the applestore said to me, ALL 4s have the same problem (although some last longer than others)

And no tricks like switch off automatic time setting, putting off notifications or something like that

remember it's an smartphone, not a peperweight

    (sorry for my bad English)

Where have Apple acknowledged the issue?

I wouldn't trust a "genius" - they just want you out the store ASAP so will say whatever it takes together you out of there.

I'll believe there's no issue when I see someone with average use get within 50% of the advertised spec.
