Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

For people thinking that the battery doctor app does something to your battery, you are wrong. The app does nothing but constantly refresh the battery percentage until the battery returns 100%, then it will tell you to leave it plugged in until the top-off charge is done which is a "hypothesized" amount of time. This app just "helps" you and tells you when to unplug the charger.

That happens only when your mobile is in 90s... If the percentage is below 90, "phone has been plugged in since the last full charge" will appear...

Hmmmm!!! Technically you are right... Apple does a check on all the apps before it's on the App Store... Dumb me!!!

Should I take my phone in to the Apple store? Is this usage time bad enough for them to consider doing anything?

Hey guys, i didnt plug in my iphone once i fully charged it. I am not so dumb to plug in and then post the results, i also had bad battery life and came to this forum looking for help and solutions, then i found out that my battery and iphone is fine, just maybe my previous battery calibration didnt work, so i tried out with this app and it worked.

And yes the app does take 1 hour and 30 minites extra for trickle charging, which is nothing wrong, because the apple website about battery itself says that iphone battery fast charges to 80-100% in 2 hours and then it switch to trickle charging to complete the total charge at a total time of 3-4 hours. THATS WHAT APPLE WEBSITE ABOUT IPHONE BATTERY SAYS, just search it guys.

And ya the app acts weird when connected to a PC. Example : when you completely trickle charged your iphone with this app opened in a pc, and you unplug the usb, and then plug in back, then it will start to trickle charge again. Which is kind of bug of the app. So just close the app after the battery is completely trickle charged. And i always charge via wall charger

Remember trickle charge your battery just once a day. I follow these steps and i get great battery life with location services and siri turned off

Hey buddy, it was my mistake i didn't take the screenshot properly, because when i saw the usage time i was kinda exited and in a hurry. Don't worry i will post someday again the results when i get the time. These days m totally busy with my work.

And silly me, sorry guys i forgot to mention that my icloud is also off. I don't use icloud totally thats why i forgot to mention about it

The app does not unlock certain features that charge your battery properly. Its how the battery is programmed. If you unplug it it may exit the trickle-charge cycle function and enter "just-charge" function. Which would mess up the "proper" charge.

ONCE AGAIN. This app does not make your battery work better it only TEACHES you how to charge it and when to unplug it.

I am very very disappointed with iphone 4s.

Yesterday I went to Apple and explained my problems evern there I lost 2 percent everything is swithced off (push, notifications, locations). Genius told me everything is fine with your phone. I said kindly, could you explain me half time usage of the standby time then please? She couldn't say much, she just said 4s will always use more battery! Which I found ridicolous. Anyway, she said what would you like me to do, I said I can try a replace. She said fine. I took the replace iphone. The difference was mine was C3 serial, this one DQ and model is MD235B.

I switched it on. It was 52 percent battery and draining fast although there is nothing on it! I've thought ok, let's discharge and fully charge I'm sure it'll be better. I didn't install any apps nothing! I fully charged it last night and 1am I took it off the charge 100 percent. 8am it was 72 percent! There is nothing on the bloody phone man. I'm just connected to my home wifi. That's all. There is nothing no icloud, no contacts, no apps...

At this moment I'm speachless. Looks like this one is even worse than mine. I came to work and didn't use my phone. It's already 60 percent left.

The only hope I'm left is ios 5.1. I have an ipad2 and macbook air and I'm very happy with those. 4s just ruined it. I can see the point of people not having realistic battery life expectations. But this is just a joke. Especially when you pay top money...

ok lets try one thing. since now you have replaced iphone and its battery is draining very fast with everything off, that means there is phantom usage. Do restore with itunes. After that turn off everything. turn off wifi, location, siri, bluetooth, dont set up any email account, diagnostics & usage sending off, cellular data off, icloud off, facetime off, imessage off. Just turn off everything and charge your phone till 100%. Do not sync any apps.

then after its fully charged, unplug the iphone and leave it overnight to see if the battery drains itself. Do this just once to check if the battery again drains itself from 100% to around 70-60% like you said.

I also had phantom usage once, restoring the firmware with itunes solved it. Phantom usage is software related.

This just reinforces the idea I exposed earlier!!

I'm getting concerned that due to so many returns of the 4S, Apple now started to say to their employees: "Tell the customers that the phone is fine. It's just the way it is!".

I don't like where this is going.............

Thanks a lot J_brahma. That's what I had in my mind for tonight when I got back home. A clean install of the ios.

EdiMC: I don't know man. But it's annoying. I don't get it how come you can tell someone it's all fine when everything is off and the usage is half of the standby time... As I said I'm on the edge of losing my hope...

Let's just hope that 5.1 makes things better...it's the only thing we can do for now...
