Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

How do I caliberate the battery. I let the phone completely drain and charged it overnight for about 12 hours. This morning at 9.00 AM the charge was 100% and the Usage and Standby times where 0 minutes.

Yeah that Android OS sure makes a case that is hard as nails.  Wonder if Apple switched to it instead of iOS if it would be sturdier?

    sbailey....

LOLz.....I had symbian once and my phone was really sturdy, switched to iOS, phone was sturdier...:-D but since iOS 5.0.1, my phone is not that sturdy....I guess the next update 5.1.1 will be to fix the 'fragility' of the phone....

Surely SGS2 must be having a really sturdy phone cos of Android.....:-D

May be too early for me to evaluate the eventual perfomance of the 4s. Because i've been using it for 7 days. However, based on the discussion here make me a little bit worried, especially about the performance of battery

Almost all the complaints hereI experianced. I hope thiS issues does not last long, and hope to have the person (especially of the Apple) who maneged to overcome.

Try to remember that Apple has sold in the neighborhood of 40 million of these phones, and we have maybe 50 different people here complaining about battery problems.  Even assuming that for every person complaining here, there are 100 more that aren't here, but have complaints, that's a miniscule number with the problem.  Right now, my phone has been 5 1/3 hours and is sitting at 96%.  8 minutes of usage, mostly watching radar on the internet through wi-fi.  Look back and compare the number of messages per day before release of 5.1, and then after.  I think the basic problem has been fixed.  Will some people continue to have problems? Of course they will.  Things happen to any mass-produced item, and will continue to.  It's a burden on those who have the problems, but the chances are really small of you being 'that person'.

Battery usage, and the battery meter, are not linear.  As the voltage decreases, it takes more amperage to run the functions of the phone.  Recharge every night, leaving it on the charger overnight, and you will start the day with a full charge, and the battery will work better.

I've been averaging about 6 hours of usage time.  Here's my settings:

Wi-Fi - On / Ask to Join Networks - Off

Siri - On / Raise to Speak - Off

    Bluetooth - On

Date & Time Auto Set - Off

    Location - Off

    Bightness - Auto

Sound - Never fiddled with it

Email - Fetch/30 Minute intervals: iCloud, Exchange, Gmail, Hotmail

Now, I haven't been mucking around with it as much as when I got it (Playing with apps, Safari, etc) and here are my stats.

So, I'm more than happy not being stuck to a charger for at least 2 days at a time.

If asked, I would front of the line to say that putting glass on the back of the iPhone is a bad idea.  It takes more room (thickness), adds weight, and is vastly more subject to damage, both cosmetic and sturctural.  Worse, it makes the phone more than a bit difficult, and for me, uncomfortable to hold.  However, I managed to get through two years with my previous phone without dropping it on anything hard, or scratching the plastic back, or front, so I am pretty sure this issue won't affect me (I hope).  As for the OS, I consulted a salesperson at a store that sold bothe iPhones and various models of Android based phones, as well as Windows phones, and the salesperson had a Samsung Galaxy S II.  He said that if I wanted a phone to play with, get the Android, if I wanted a phone to USE, without trouble, get the iPhone.  I listened.
