Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

I got a new 4s last week after 4 years of using iPhone 3G with great battery life. No problems at all. Wifi and 3G on all the time I got minimum 3 days use.  This phone eats batteries when 3G is enabled.  Charged the phone overnight to 100% and 8 hours later, with everything on, apart from 3G, I've still got 98% left. Turning 3G off is not a solution to the problem but it might help its diagnosis. Other than that I'm really happy in general and the iPhone in particular!

Is your Usage time equal to your Standby time?

It was 30% use, 70 standby but without 3G the figures are 20% use 80 standby up to now.  I'll report back when i note the figures for 24 hours with no 3G.

I just got my Iphone 4s a few days ago and did everything suggested except the restore option since I am our of the country.  As I read the posts (10min) my phone has drained from 22% to 12% in 10min or so.  This is not acceptable.  Any other suggestions except for restore which doesn't sense unless the "approved" apps from apple must be killing the battery.  My Ipad 2 will last at least a day with 10X the usage.  I now it has a smaller process and bigger battery but that is still not acceptable for the latest and greatest Iphone.  I guess I should be a little happy my jeans aren't on fire from an ipad 3.

That is not typical.  You might try resetting settings and data and see if that solves the problem.  Are standby and usage times equal, or roughly so?  If so, the reset will probably help.

That's pretty bad.  What did you do during that usage time?  It can make a lot of difference.  Also, what is on?  I notice that your signal level isn't very good, and that can make a lot of difference, but it shouldn't go down that fast.

some times facebook & whatsup... checking mails also (not that much)

i used SIRI only for around 15 minutes and remaining time OFF

WiFi: OFF (most of the time)

3G: On (most of the time, but not using all time)

I used the phone since last full charge for making calls (not heavy and long calls), sending SMS

mainly for chating on whatsup (i had chat on whatsup around 5 - 6 times every time around 5 minutes).

i can tell that not heavy use but also not light use....

what do you think about my battery state?

is there any issue with the battery

one important question also: my battery decreased around 10 - 12 % in the night ? is this normal... but note that i used the fetsh mail to check hourly (only this) and noticification for whatsup.

in general what do you think abt my battery?

Hi.  I've still only got 3G off. Battery remaining is 63%.  usage is 4 hrs 11 mins and standby is 15 hrs 41 mins.  I'm happy with that so I'll only activate 3G when necessary.  I understand a lot of users need 3G on all the time so I'm not suggesting this as a solution but just to aid the pros to diagnose the problem.

I'm also seeing a significant improvement from turning off 3G: I switched it off at 50% and now my stats are 5h usage +2d17h standby @ 18%. I'll keep the stats coming.

Note that I'm in Wifi reach at home and at work, so 90% of the time! ***?! is this a bug, apple? how can it be 3G drains so much of my battery although I'm not using it actively?

Other interesting thing I noticed from turning off 3G is that my bars went up from 2-3 to 5. So I guess my GSM connectivity is better than the 3G and the bars reflect only the quality of "the best" connection available.

I have been trying to keep my 3G off most of the time for last 2 days.

In last 24 hrs my 3G was ON for just 1 hr. The iPhone 4s stats are as below:

Standby Time: 1 Day

Usage Time : 3 Hrs 10 mins.(Played game for an Hour - in wifi mode).

Battery Left : 56%

So, 3G is a big culprit at least for me. I recommend other users who can afford to switch off 3G and check if you get any improvement in your stats.

for me 3g is not the problem, i used alot internet usage through 3G only. may battery can go up to 2-3%less overnight and if im not using 3g 8hrs per 1% standby, may usage most of the time are between 5-8hrs moderate to heavy and 1D-2Days standby. i got no battery problem. but for sure as an observation battery drain fast when using internet. btw my usage: 1-2hrs internet: FB/Skyp w/ vidio calls 8-15mins/YM.. 1-2hrs games most likely RPG games. 1hr music.. 10-20text messege per day, 1-2calls a Day about 5-10mins. for the stat,. may shortest battery life was 5hrs usage and 23hrs standby(heavy Usage). and my longest battery stat was 9hrs usage+ 2Days and 6hrs standby. (slightly and moderate Usage)

as i can see in ur usage and standby, its is still normal, sometimes i expirence that 4hr usage and less dan a day standby. but the decreased in ur standby 10-12% overnight i dont think it is normal., do ur phone heat ups when using it? if u expirence some heat dont try to used it as much as possible, warm is ok but not heat. internet usaged drain battery fast. even ur whatsup. when im using internet my battery drain 5-10% for every 15-30mins..  so dont worry for your battary ur usage still normal for me..

i didn't notice that my phone is heating up when using it.

i noticed the battery decreased 10 - 12 % (stnadbye) over the night when my noticification for whatass, mail with fetch hourly, and facebook were ON.

Also, my 3G was ON at that overnight time.

Yesterday the battery drained around 4 - 5 % overnight (02:00 am till 08:00 am) in standbye BUT no WiFi or 3G are on (both are OFF). which mean 4 - 5 % overnight (six hours) in standbye but no WIFI or 3F (both were OFF).

What do you think about this?

also what do you think about my stats now (both WiFi and 3G are off) since the last full charge and i had made one call only:

Battery: 94 %

Usage: 37 minutes

Standby: 14 Hours, 5 minutes.

Please give me your comments on both (my stas now and about my points on the overnight drain before)?
