Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

we were almost same in overnight drain when ur not using ur wifi or 3G im loosing 2-3% overnight but im using 3g On, but still not much email or FB push noti. the 10-12% drain is not normal. but ur stat in both 3G and wifi off are normal. i guess u got problem in connecting to 3G.. most of the time where same in 4-6hrs moderate usage. but sometimes stat is diff. my phone push to the limit of 8-10hrs usages. but in a light or moderate used only. heavy used of CP are 4-6hrs usage in my stat. try to off ur 3G when ur sleeping. u can get notification when u get online again though its manually fetch.

you are telling that 10 -12 % drain is not normal, and maybe there is problem in connecting to 3G.

Do you mean problem in my iPhone? if yes, then should i check with my waranty or replace the iPhone.

as i can see in yout stat when 3G is off. ur standby time is normal for 3-5% overnight.. but u said when 3g is on 10-12%? even u got push noti on, it is still normal but alittle bit fast to drain ur battery.. im not into repalce but to check ur phone to know if there is a problem. i only suggesting to turn off ur 3G when not in used. specially when ur sleeping. u can even turn it on after u wake.. and still can check  ur mail and messages manually.

i do understand what u r saying and i can do this for sure (turn off my 3G when sleeping) but my question how to check if my phone is having problem?

ok.. observe it again for a couple of days/charging. if u feel ur phone easily drain fast, go to nearest service center, make them check ur phone.observe whether it will get so hot or just warm when using internet for a few minutes. and run other apps .for me i dont see any problem at all in ur normal usage and standby.. only seems tobe the problem to me is ur battery draining fast 10-12% for about 8hrs or less? it is more than 1% per hour.

  how much battery drain do you see while using GPS? I was driving yesterday and GPS + 3G was on. And my battery reduced by 20% in 20mins or something. And ofcourse, the phone was as hot as a freshly baked garlic bread!

I don't use the GPS usually; but you can refer to DevilMark who is expert in iPohne (in my opinion).

lol im not expert in battery.. im just posting my expirence and opinions here.. @awnyrvan im not always used GPS, when i used it its about 5-10mins of usage. so i dnt have any idea about that 20%lost of ur battery. but u said that ur phone is hot, its normal to get warm and get hot when u used ur mobile internet and apps for a long time. but when u cant touch it.. or its very hot.. its not normal at all.. just make ur phone to standby for short time for the temp.. to be normal. and pls indicate ur usage and standby total % 100%-up to 1%..  thnx.

@devilmark: thanks for ur post. i am usually having 5:30Hrs of usage and 18Hrs of standby on 100%-0%. yesterday was the worst, however, as i tried to fiddle with the gps. This usage is with 3G on all the time (tho being used sparingly). but while going through the last few posts in the thread, I realized that many people had issues with 3G on. So, I just turned it off. I need 3G only when I am driving or outside home or office, which is only 1-2Hrs per day at the max. I will post battery-life info with this new 3G-off approach in a day may be!

your a moderate to heavy user i think. may i knw how do u used your phone daily?.. how many hours internet usage? do you used video calling? hours of playing, how many text.. call per day?.. etc. in ur usage your battery is good,  aslong as u can used ur phone in whole day..thats ok. 7-8hrs of usages has the best battery of iphone so far.. some reaches 10-12hrs but i think it is not straight use of their phone. as u can connect ur phone through cables and itunes usage and standby continue to count until it reach to full charge which is reset to 0 stat again.

good battery got 4-6hrs, defective or battery that reaches their charging limits got 1-3hrs of usage w/ less than 1day standby or less..take note that when we used internet on 3G it is easly to drain battery. but  if u tested it 4-6hrs straight use u will know if it is normal usage or not. more or less that was i observe to some battery.

And I am always getting 5+ hrs of usage. It has 30mins of 2g calling, some texting, good amount of FB. Push mail for 2 of my most active accounts all day and night. some 15-20mins of 3D gaming and similar amount of youtube.

With GPS yeaterday, I still got 5+ hours of usage, but standby was only 8-9hrs as I ws using my phone continuously

I'm keenly waiting to gather data with 3G off, though

well we w8 for that.. but though my opinion is base on my expirence. cuz i got also ipodtouch 1st gen. and i always compaired it to my 4s..lol my 1st gen itouch can go further about 1-2hrs usage only w/o charging it. but still can go upto 2-3days stand by when not using it.. the battery of my itouch defenitly reach already its charging limits..

My iPhone 4S on average has usage stats of 5-6 hours, and 30 hours standby. But, on more frequent usage (a couple of games played), it can go down to only 16-22 hours standby.

I usually use my iPhone for browsing and reading news (sometimes on wifi, sometimes on 3G, depends). I also check the AppStore regularly and use my iPhone for texting (I rarely do phone calls).
Is this normal? Or is my battery faulty?
