Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I thhink u got very good battery life - same as me almost. Try to use it with 3g turned on "hostpoint via Wi-Fi" and ull get phone 0% from 100% after 5-6 hours. 3g makes battery worse. iPhone 4 works more longer...

I know this could not be good battery life for my 4S. Ganted I live in an area that gets a very weak cell signal and is often searching for a signal and at times does roam which I think does drain the battery even faster, at least that's what I deduced it to. Also I noticed when I shut my phone off, say overnight, the battery drains a good 15%-20%. This I found to be a bit odd.

I have the latest firmware (5.1.1), hardly use location services, very little notifications, and I hardly touch the thing. I must say I am a bit disappointed with the battery life my 4S gets compared to my previous iPhone 3G which lasted a day and a half to 2 days.

Can anone please help me adjust some things around to get better battery life out of this phone?

I would check the warranty on this. Take it to a certified service center and this should be qualified for a replacement. They need to approve this first. /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/184/18434840-1.gif

I do not see a "Carrier" setting.  I have Verizon, if that matters.

@BoogaBoss, I do not have the option to turn off 3G and do you mean "hotspot," not 'hostpoint?'

Do you mean "hotspot?" I do not see "hostpoint" anywhere.

I have experienced same same problem twice. It is definitly a software issue.

The best solution: delete your exchange account. You will see that the battery drain issue will be over. Setup your exchange account again.

This answer is for the sudden battery drain problem. (Battery draining in 4 hours) Not for general battery life issue.

    Had to post this...

"Käyttö" means Usage, "tuntia" means hours. Over 8000 years of usage with IOS 5.1. And still 13 % left, not bad...

I'm reiterating my frustration about this whole battery life thing...Apple has not admitted that even though some people have gotten better battery life with 5.1.1 that a lot of us now have crappy as **** battery life.  I am listening to music on my phone this morning and my battery has DROPPED about 30% in the past hour!!! That is sick! on 5.0.1 it might have dropped 10%...SO FREAKING IRRITATED.

and is it normal if I turn off the iphone at night and turn it on in the morning but got 10%-20% battery decreased? isn't turn off supposed to shut down the phone entirely and not consuming battery instead???

jagenco and JM562002: I'd look into a warranty replacement. I get about 9-10 hours of use out of my phone each day and charge it everynight. End the day around 5-10%. My wife gets 10-11 hours, but she uses it more for music, while I use more data.
