how many hours usually ur phone does?.. (usage?)  if ur heavy user and ur phone only get up to 4hrs usage straight.. then it is normal.. b4, as i observe, my phone only get 3-5hrs of its battery.. some times it get 2-5Days standby.. some time not even half day.. depending on how u used it.. it is a pain if u think alot of the battery usage of ur phone.. now i dont waste my time checking my phone usage.. just used it and charge it.. i even jailbreak my phone and used it alot like customizing it, playing games for 4-5straight hours..(heavy usage) : playing Infinity Blade, music, internets! sometimes it can bring may battery for the whole 2Days(slight usage) text and call only-

I had Battery Drain while turning on GSM Radio. When GSM Radio is turned off while the rest feature (e.g. Siri, Bluetooh, Wifi, Location Service, iMessage, iCloud, you name it) turned on, I can say no issue on the battery drain.

Turning on GSM also had an intermittent signal reception, call failed issue, and the phone tends to heat up even without any activity -- this heat up issue I believe also due to I live in a quite hot country, but still it's unacceptable since other iPhone model didn't suffer. This could be a safety issue, as an iPhone suppose to work as a Phone. You can imagine if the phone doesn't work when you're on emergency.

I have no clue the influence of this council, but anyone with facebook account might want to click "Like". Probably with more "Like" counts, it will be able to push apple to bring this Battery drain issue as a priority.

    Have a look at:

I'll tell you right now that anything on Facebook will never do anything to change Apple's mind, or frankly make anyone do anything.

Sorry that you didn't get your dream experience, feel free to go to Android. Go to the land of never getting OS updates, malware, lag, and sometimes even less battery life.

Well one has to remember the specs:

Talk time: Up to 8 hours (12.5% per hour drain) on 3G, up to 14 hours (7.1% per hour drain) on 2G (GSM)

Standby time: Up to 200 hours (0.5% per hour drain)

Internet use: Up to 6 hours on 3G (16.6% per hour drain), up to 9 hours (11.1% per hour drain) on Wi-Fi

Video playback: Up to 10 hours (10% per hour drain)

Audio playback: Up to 40 hours (2.5% per hour drain)

Spare yourself this thread's 500 first pages of drivel. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3526981?start=0&tstart=0 .But seek support from the seller rapidly if you can't make the specs.

    ...dream experience...?

When the advertised specification is "Standby time: Up to 200 hours" and a lot of folk can't even get one twentieth of that... sorry mate that's complete bunk.

As someone who has staunchly supported Apple products for more than a decade (I even possess an OS X beta disc) and been responsible for the purchase of easily a million dollars' worth of their kit, I can't help but be disappointed.

Not that they haven't goofed occasionally in the past, but still...

As for 1AppleADayNoWay's post - good work, cheers.    Off to read up...

It's normal you'd get only a - tiny - fraction of that if you really use the phone, as standby can only exist on what's left from usage and background tasks. On the other hand, it's been shown that if you retentively control your... phone, you may conserve energy and go beyond what some consider to be unnatural... Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis "the wise"...

    Cheers!

Well that's not Standby then is it?

If the spec is up to 200 hours Standby and when the device is in Standby you're lucky to get double-digit hours out of it then it's one of two things:

    - unrealistic, misleading specifications (which Apple are making a habit of)

    - the device has a design problem (be it hardware or software)

Or both. Because usage includes background processing, which is not hands on use. When OS 5 was released, it seems the background processing was out of control. With time this might have improved with subsequent releases and apps upgrades etc. At the same time, Apple fails to indicate that standby is not on top of usage but rather within what's left from usage i.e. % left x 200 hrs. When someone actively uses the phone this precipitates usage at the extent of standby. On the other hand, going for standby with the stock configuration gives mitigated results. I'm sure none of this is anything new to you, but what you quoted was intended for a different audience..

As I said already, disabling everything (such as those things you list here) made absolutely zero difference to my brand new 4S.

More to the point, why buy a 4S if you cannot use its features for fear of it going flat?  Waste of time and money.

The 4S, for at least as many folk as have posted on this thread, is something of a "fail".  Simple as that.

Disabeling those functions you don't want, or need, just makes good sense.  For the vast majority of users, there IS NO battery problem.  I have never had a problem with mine.  In fact, it just keeps getting better.  I suspect that some users got a bad batch of batteries.  When you sell 50 million of anything, some of them will be better than average, some average, and some below average.  Not much comfort for those who do have problems, but most do not.

You guys might be interested in the App called Carat, it's supposed to help save on battery life.
