I have to charge at least 1x a day mid-day; I'd be thrilled to only charge at night again.

I've also definitely noticed worst battery life on the 4S in comparisson to my 15 month old iPhone 4.

In addition, it takes 2hrs straight to charge the 4S from 0-100%. My iPhone 4 used to take around 1hr to fully charge. Slightly disappointed about this.

Experiencing the same problem.  What is the best solution? Cheers.

I found a lot of issues in settings, things turned on, fetch turned on,  too much in location services, turned PING off in settings, and more.  Also people have been saying there is an iCloud / MobileMe issue and to turn off each item individual, reset the phone, then turn them back on one by one.  Also seems in some of the emails sync of calendar and notes are turned on, so I turned them off as well.

Doing a full charge / top off with Battery Magic and will test again tomorrow.

I'm relieved to see that so many other people are having major battery issues as well.  I lost 23% in about thirty minutes this morning -- using the regular NOTES app!  I wasn't surfing the web, playing games, or anything like that.  Just typing in the Notes app.

I just found another thing that might be draining the battery... Diagnostics & Usage...

It was set to Automatically Send(don;t remember if I agreed to that or it is the default) but the shocking part is if you look in the 'Diagnostic & Usage Data' you will find many, many sends per day...on mine, about 30 per day...

I changed it to 'Don't Send' and will see if that helps...

I'm worried about my battery life as well... It was a huge investment for me to upgrade from the 3GS to the 4S and for example, I fully charged the battery overnight, woke up and took the phone off the charger to go to work at about 8:45 a.m. it's 10:40 a.m now, I have not used the phone at all and it's gone from 100% to 87% without using it... My 3GS battery life was even better than this.

I read somewhere that the battery "comes to life" after a few drains and recharges. I sure hope that's right...

rpitsnogle is right, I also found under 'Diagnostic & Usage Data' about 300 sends to Apple in a 3-day period, so I also turned that off to see if it makes a difference.

My battery is draining quicker than I expected as well.   I did hear that the Siri "Raise to speak" feature causes additional battery drainage as well due to monitoring the accelerometer.  This is unconfirmed but I'm going to try turning that of today for troubleshooting.

Same here....came visiting the forum here to see if anyone else was noticing significant battery issues.  Glad to hear I'm not the only one - looking forward to a solution.

I'm in the process of restoring and installing my apps/ringtones/music etc. from scratch to see if that makes a difference.  Real pain, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

I seen a youtube video saying that you should "forget" your network settings and redo everything. Not sure if it actually works or not... I personally haven't had a battery problem. If anything, the battery life is 100x better than my 3gs.

    To "forget" your network:
Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings

Then you basically just re enter your wifi's password.

I'm also having SERIOUS issues with 4S Battery Life.  I'm fairly certain that it is not an iOS 5 related issue; since I am a developer and have run the Beta on an iPhone 4 for a couple of months.  I had some shortened battery life issues with the first few Beta Releases; but the last few (including Gold Master) on my iPhone 4 worked great and I noticed little if any problem with battery life.

I backed up the iPhone 4 and restored the 4S to that backup.  I also double checked all of my settings.  Normally (pre 4S) I could go most days without ever recharging the phone.  Today; with very light use, I am down to 77% with just 3 hours since turning it on.  I haven't made a single call, and have only checked a couple of web links & taken a few photos all day.

Outside of iPhone 4 vs 4S, the only real change I have made is upgrading to a 64 GB model.  I doubt that this is the root cause of the reduced Battery Life.  I can only guess that this is a 4S firmware related issue; or that a post beta addition to iOS 5 (Siri?) is sucking battery life dry.

I've also noticed problems with the phone having difficulty remaining on wifi networks and forgetting network logins; despite instructing the OS to remember the network / password.

Very odd / annoying problems that one would have hoped would have been worked out in advance.  (IF employees were leaving the ptototypes in bars again; you'd think that there wold have been enough of these in the wild to detect such a problem, prior to shipping.
