iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

After three days of experimenting, I've vastly improved my 4S battery life by employing the same approach. I also keep my phone in sleep/wake mode, which ensures message notifications, alarms etc. are received while markedly reducing the drain on my battery. Haven't recharged since Friday morning - it's now 6.30pm NZT and battery is still sitting at above 50 percent.

I suspect it's a case of not assuming all smartphones are created equal. I'm extremely happy with my 4S after a little experimentation. Even so, given the outcry over battery issues, I feel there needs to be a little more information in the manual re managing battery use effectively.

I tried turning Siri on and off, tried turning time zone on and off for location services - neither helped. I let the battery run to 0% last night and let it charge all night in an attempt to condition it, we'll see how it goes today.

I have AT&T, a guy in my office with Verizon has the exact same problem. I'd rather not have to do a full restore as I would have a ton of work in setting up pages/favorites, etc.

Hi I have an iPhone 4 and since putting iOS 5 on it the battery life has been really bad it drops at a ridiculous rate even when I'm not using it where as it would barely drop any charge when it was in standby. I've tried turning lots of thing off but it makes no difference. I've been looking around and alot of people seem to be reporting this.

Yikes! 15%/hour is pretty bad. My experience isn't that bad, but my iPhone 4S loses about 1%/hour when asleep and doing nothing. My iPhone 4, even on iOS 5, would only drop about 2% overnight but my iPhone 4S drops about 9-10%. And I've already calibrated the battery by letting it drain to 0% and then charging it all the way to 100%.

The only differences between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S are the camera, processor, antennas, and Siri. I can't imagine the camera is causing any difference in battery life nor the processor since the iPad didn't take a huge hit going from the A4 to the A5 in the iPad 2. And my iPad 2 running iOS 5 still gets great battery life. So unless I'm missing something, it's either the new antennas (and/or the software related to that), and/or it's Siri.

In the 29 minutes since I last posted, I wrote one email, played one word in Words with Friends, one word in Hanging with Friends, read a few news articles in USA Today, and read some posts in Engadget. All on wifi, not 3G. My battery has gone from 89% to 77%. Dropping 12% every half hour means the phone will barely last over 4 hours of light usage, and that's not even making any calls!

same here have been using iPhone 4 and the battery has been OK but since getting the 4s I am experiencing terrible battery drain in comparison. I thought the battery was supposed to have a better battery? typing now with only 6% left where my iPhone 4 would have a about 40% under the same conditions.... very strange and not good in my humble opinion.
