Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I don't think the issue is hardware related, I think it is the software. I installed iOS5 in my 3GS and now its battery life last much less than with iOS4, I would say about 50% worse.

Samewise here! and the thing is that I used to use my old iPhone4 exactly the same way I use my iPhone4s now, and the 4 stays much longar than the 4s!

Even I turned of the location services and most of the notifications, but still no improvment!

My news iPhone 4S is affected as well...

I work for a software developer and am willing to work with Apple staff to analyse, test and problem solve.

Just get in touch with me...

My battery life is less than desirable as well.  I have all of the same apps and settings that I did on my iPhone 4 (with the exception of Siri).  At first I thought it was just because I was using it quite a bit the first few days, showing off Siri.  Although yesterday the phone remainded largley in my pocket.... from 6 AM to 3 PM it had only 50% of battery life remaining.  I read email a few times and had a 1 minute phone during that time.

    Battery life is terrible.

I got an iPhone 4S on 14th October.  I got 12.5 hours standby with 4.25 hours usage.

I got a replacement phone from my carrier and ran it with completely stock standard (added no apps, no wi-fi, no bluetooth) and I still got <14hours of standby time (with use) from my phone.

From my 3GS (running iOS 4.3.5) I got 20 hours of standby with up to 8-10 hours of usage.  I'm very disappointed as the same thing is happening with both iPhone 4S.

    Not happy Apple!

Same issue - my 64GB 4S drains incredibly fast. I can't make it through the day without a charge. Basically, feels the same as my 18 month old 3GS.

I have tried all the obvious (and not so obvious) things one can try to extend it, with no success so far.

I'm currently using the 4 on iOS5 not the 4S and have seen some reduction in battery life but not to the extent reported above

Some users I've noticed are reporting their 4 is also affected, others are reporting just 4S is affected

Can someone (or Apple) please confirm that it is actually just an iPhone 4S issue or an iOS5 issue?

I got a whtie 64 GB 4S on Verizon.  I had amazing battery life when I first got my phone.  About 3 days after my phone loses about 10% an hour on standby.  I have tried a bunch of things (bluetooth, wifi, apps closed) to include turning Siri off.  Didn't help much.  I can at least survive my 10 hour work day with everything turned off

Despite all the tips here and there to save battery life, my iPhone 4s 64 Gb loose charge after few hours of inactivity. My 1 year old iOS 5 iPhone 4 32 Gb and iPhone 3GS 32 Gb keep the charge well with defaults settings.

Please Apple staff, find a solution !

On my iphone 4 the battery life was gone since iOs5. I think it had to do with activating photostream. Syncing took ages. I did a couple of restarts, but finally re-installed iOs5, kept my iphone connected to my mac and wait till photostream was finished (on my phone).

    After that no more problems!

So maybe turn off photostream or other icloud services? See how it goes from there.

Have tried many of the fixes suggested on the Net, such as turning various things off. So far the only thing that seems to help is putting the phone into airplane mode unless I need to make a call or go online. When it comes out of airplane mode the battery starts to drain very quickly.

    I felt special

It seemed as though I had not fallen prey to such problems, and that my phone was somehow different and superior to others...

A couple of weeks went by, and I began to realize how wrong I was.  Battery life is well under my previous iPhone 4 (Verizon) and quite suddenly, as though something has been enabled that was not active before.  Where I used to be able to use my phone all day in various capacities (albeit, most on a wireless network) with minimal battery usage, as of about three days ago my battery drains to as low as 1/4 by the end of the day, with no change in usage,

I've read a few articles here and there discussing supposed 'fixes' to this issue, but having checked my services, not apply to me.
