Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Here is my update from my brief testing:

Here are my previous posts for reference:

So here I am at 11am with my phone that I reset last night. It is factory fresh with only my icloud activated because I needed my contacts to get through my work day. It has not been plugged into iTunes at all. I have everything turned on that I would normally have on, including all notifications, siri, find my phone, etc.

I unplugged my phone from the charger at 7am this morning. My phone was not intense with heat like it had been previously. It is now 11am and I am at 94% battery life. This includes having wifi on the entire 4 hours except the 30 mins I was in the car. I have used the phone like i normally would this morning. Few phone calls, lots of txt messages and the occasional safari use.

This is obviously a huge improvement and probably close to optimal. I'm now going to add my email accounts but leave the calendars turned off. After I see the phone is continueing to work as normal, I'll probably sync all my music and apps. I'm going to avoid doing a restore from backup, and just continue to treat this as if I never had a previous phone. Then if the battery continues to perform well, I'll go ahead and activate my calendars to prove to myself that, at least in my case, the calendar is the direct cause of my drain. If i get the calendars turned on and everything continue normally, then i will assume something went terribly wrong during the restore process.

    Thanks for reading.

How many people with battery issues have a 32 gb model? It seems like the issue isn't universal- some people say they have no problem. I have the 32 gb model and my battery life is terrible.

As before but with location services switched on, find my iPhone running. Only 2 system services running, which are mobile network search (I don't have a SIM card inserted, so it shouldn't be looking for that) and compass calibration. iPhone 4s dropped 1 % in 55 minutes. I'm going to put the 35 minute extra drain down to Find my iPhone.

I'm now putting the SIM card back in and turning location services off. I'm gonna leave mobile data off for now and see how much it drops with just a mobile network connected for voice only.

    Again keep you posted.

All my issues and testing I have been posting about involve a 64GB black one. My wife, who is having the same drain problems has a 16GB white one.

    No I have a 16gb black iPhone 4s on O2 (UK)

I have just dropped 2% in 30 minutes with the SIM card installed, mobile data is off.

I wonder if this is a SIM card problem. My iPhone 4s actually came with my girlfriends contract (which I paid for), she got a new SIM with the phone. I swapped my iPhone 4 for her 4s and put the SIM card from my iPhone 4 into the new phone. Maybe there is an incompatibility between old SIM cards and the iPhone 4s.

How many of you just swapped the SIM card out from the 4 into the 4s and have battery issues.

I'm going to put her SIM card in the 4s and test it.

    Fingers crossed!

I have a 16GB black and have an appointment at the Apple bar this Friday. I am starting three weeks of travel outside the USA and need the 4S to work as advertised.

I have tried all thus stuff on this forum. Nothing really seems to work. My phone lost 2% all night on standby. The monent I picked it up and checked email and looked at Facebook, the battery death begins. This is my first iPhone. Nothing to compare too. Only heard from my friends who have iPhones that there battery on the 4 was awesome. Lasted a day and even more. I'm not playing games on it or watching movies. *****.

Can those with severe battery drain chime in as to whether they have remote calendar accounts enabled, via any type of server (Exchange, google, Apple's own servers, etc.)?

I had an iphone 4, but didn't use the sim card. I just setup the 4s with the sim card that came with it and restored the new phone from my iphone 4 backup.

Here's my own observations (posted in the Hardware forums):

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16450476#16450476

I have an iPhone 4S, with Sprint. I use Gmail and had it running on hourly fetches. After power off the phone and then back on, and also draining the battery after a full recharge, things seem to be better (but still not anywhere close to the advertised battery life). Using 3G puts a huge drain on the battery, from what I can tell. I am switching push on for my Gmail account to see if that changes anything.
