Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I have to charge twice a day. I don't even use my phone that much. It loses at least 10% every hour even when not in use. Besides the fact that this phone: drops calls all the time, overheats, can't recognize my contacts list, sends out text messages as e-mails, freezes, kicks me out of apps, and loses battery too quickly, it's a decent phone. NOT. Getting mine replaced asap. also, siri doesn't seem to know the difference between "tell" and "call".

THIS WORKED FOR ME! 32gb Verizon iPhone 4S

After reading the forums for 2 weeks and trying pretty much every combination...I finally found a solution that worked. A full restore did not help. Prior to this my phone was dropping over 10% per hour. It wouldn't last half a day with lite use. At times it was super hot even with no apps running in the background.

My battery was at 100% at ~1am last night. It's at 86% right now (about 10 hours later). I used it this morning to check email, twitter, web, stocks, and take a few pictures, etc..

    Usage: 56 Minutes

    Standby: 10 Hours, 6 Minutes

I believe the issue was my Calendar notification setting. I kept seeing the "calaccessd" process pop up in the Sytem Activity Monitor app i bought.

    Here are my current settings:

    ON in Notification Center:

    Phone - badges and alerts

    Messages - Badges and Banners

    ****

Calendar is NOT in notification center and I only have "View in Lock Screen" turned ON so I can still get alerts

    ****

    Wifi: ON

    Cellular Data: ON

Location Servies ON just for Maps, Siri,  Yelp, and Find my iPhone

iCloud ON just for Find my iPhone

Siri: ON, Raise to Speak OFF

Hope this helps someone out there!

I think that this may be a 3G issue with the new radio they have on the phone. I turned off cellular data and have been using wifi and used my phone heavy and it didn't heat up and the battery was not dropping like a rock. I think there may be a software issue with using 3G data and even when you are using wifi the 3G data is still stuck somehow because before turning off cellular data on my sprint iphone4s it would still heat up and battery would still drop like a rock on wifi. Once I turned it off then no problem but when I am out of wifi range I will have to turn it back on if I want to get any type of data besides texts and phone calls.

I wouldn't mind this so much if the battery was user replaceable like nearly all other phones, but it is not. Running  so many unneccasary cycles through my battery is very disappointing, I use this for business so there is no choice but to continue to charge it multiple times a day.

I had a similar problem with my iPhone 4. Suddenly, the battery lost 10% per hour even in flight mode and not using the phone at all. As I was in Botswana at that time I had no chance to do anything. Back home the same.An IOS upgrade (4.*) I had not installed was available. I installed it and since that time accu life is as it was before. so it was clear that it was a SW problem. I upgraded to IOS 5 without any battery life problems - up to now.

you and ALL  have 90 days.......free service? right? YESSSSSSSSSSS

    1 year free replacement? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

so i will wait as long as they fix the problem...........if YES whe will be all happy..........

IF no............i will ask to replace before the warranty is out and by then the iphone 5 will be out...(next spring or beginning summer)....and will ask to have a 5......and if i have to pay extra (not too much) i will do that.

until that........nothing to do and wait........and if APPLE DONT FIX IT ...THEY WILL have lost their name and the battle with all smartphone with android.

SO ALL IS AGAINST THEM.......they have a ton of pressure............i am sure the production is in slow mode...

changing the phone now ? and  50% get a refurb:no thanks...my apple store is 50 milles from home!!!!!!!!!!!....i will wait to a second generation IP4S....if it is harware issue oe another IOS 5. XXX .

now with all off it is a flip-flop phone

    at least i can call.......

I found that same article last night and followed the directions step by step and it didn't make a difference for me.  I even turned off all the other recommended services I have seen on this forum and my battery is still draining like crazy and the only thing I have done in the last two hours is send 10 text messages and my battery has drained from 100% to 71% in a little over two hours.

I have watched my battery life drop 20% within 3 hours. Wi-Fi is off, phone and messages are on in notifications. Locations services are on and Siri and find my iPhone are on. Hopefully a fix will come soon.

This is what I am observing.  I have not been seeing battery life issues and I have had my 3G data turned off almost since the day I got the 4S.  That was due to the Sprint 3G performance being pretty bad that I deigned to use WiFi instead.  Coming from an iPod Touch 4, I was already used to knowing where and when I could get WiFi access so it has been no big deal treating the 4S the same way.

Maybe the planets will align at some point and Apple will fix the power drain issue and Sprint will fix their 3G issues.

    BTW, KC7GNM, this is N2JTX!

No that is still excessive even with the lower stats...I have had mine since launch day and only need to charge about once a day and maybe a quick boost in car though I regularly drained my blackberry daily so I do use it ALOT....I would say you need to take it to your provider and have them change out your phone as it is probably a faulty processor that is running high all the time.

Well I do not think this problem is the iPhone 4S

    but the IOS software 5.0

From the time I put IOS 5.0  on my iPhone 3Gs  the battery

    life is terrible!

Trying à lot: put of location for all apps/ really close all apps after use

    but it did not work.

My contract does not support 3G I'm only use wifi.

my other phone 3G with pevious IOS no problem my first iPhone

    with IOS no problem.

Apple please try the older IOS 4 on á iPhone 4s so you see that the IOS

5 software is the problem not the phone!

ps write this text cost me 3% battery life.

Same here. I upgraded from an old 3GS and the battery last almost exactly the same for me, barely 14-16 hours. I love the new phone, but this battery issue is driving me up a wall. All my non-iphone friends love it. Any good tips?
