Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I'm having similar problems. My phone was nearly fully charged when I sent to sleep last night. 6 hours later, it's less than 10%. It was connected to a wifi network.

    I've:

    - Started from scratch, completely restoring the phone without going from a backup

    - Turned off push for mail

    Any ideas?

I also have a 4s and have been wondering if there's something wrong with the battery - but can we define what is supposed to be "normal" for those of us for whom the 4s is our first iphone? This is my first one, and I looked at the specifications for it:

200 hrs standby: so fair to assume 0.5% standby loss per hour?

up to 8 hrs talktime: so fair to assume 12.5% loss per hour of phone calls?

up to 6 hours of 3G internet use: so fair to assume 17% 3G  loss per hour per hour of 3G internet use?

up to 9 hours of wifi internet use: so fair to assume 11% wifi loss per hour of wifi use?

Let's assume a typical day of 1 hour of calls, 1 hour of web surfing wifi, and mild texts over 3G: we should all be at around lower 60s of battery life, no?

I'm just getting a little confused by some posts like "I used wifi for 30 mins and lost 5% of battery life" - wouldn't that be considered typical, if my math is correct? Or do you guys have much more drastic losses?

I'm trying to figure out if my batter drains faster than these figures before I stop by an Apple store to have it checked out. I called a Verizon store near me, and they said I should be double clicking "home" and clearing out those multitasking apps whenever I can since they've seen that as being the #1 cause of batter drainage.

I've been having battery issues since my new 4s arrived.  The battery drains extremely quick and I've tried a number of solutions in this forum to no avail.  I've disabled most of the location based services, time zone checking, mail checking, and other options.  The main problem is that I feel like disabling all of this is making the phone less useful than my iPhone 4.  My tweaks did slightly improve battery life but it's still draining at a rapid pace even when in standby overnight.

iOS 5 has connection established to Apple's push-server even with Notifications disabled.

Having connections open is what drains the battery.

By disabling Cellular Data, the connection in off, But you can only use the iPhone for talking and text-messaging.

Charged to max 8 hours ago, drained 1%.

I haven't had as big of a problem as most posters, but I lose about 10-15% an hour doing nothing and with Wifi/Bluetooth, Location Services, push notifications all off.

I do stand by Apple and think this issue will be fixed with an upcoming patch, but it is ridiculous that they would release a non bug-free OS and to pair that with a new model. It's is frustrating for first time iPhone users(I just bought an iPhone 4s from a 4 year Blackberry history)

I had an iPod shuffle first gen that was amazing - only had to charge once a month and I used it heavily. I bought a new gen and the battery died after around 4 hours. Apple sent me a new one, 3 months later, no box, no headphones, no receit. So far so good on the battery.

I think their battery is hit or miss, you either get a product that is good out of the box or not. Usually a fix will help this. I love the company but I wish the OS's were properlty beta tested internally and bug freed before public launch.

Discharge your battery twice and recharged hundred percent.   Discharge meaning that to run till it turns off automatically and then charge it fully packed hundred percent

Does this seem out of the ordinary?

30% battery when I went to bed

2% when I woke up 8 hours later

3.5%/hr in standby.. that seems a bit fast.

I will try and compare this to changes I make 1 at a time

I had the same trouble with my iPhone 4 after I up graded to os5, I turned everything off , like suggested, nothing. When I deleted and re-did my Yahoo mail account vola! alls well again and battery is all better.

Was getting so mad that battery only lasted maybe 15 hours on a full charge.

What I noticed on iPhone is that when the screen is off (standby), the battery drain is better. But when I am using, I battery is going down fast. I can notice the percentage going down noticeably. I have tried all the solutions that are posted in this thread.
