Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!

    turn off SETTING TIME ZONE!!!

in settings > location services > scroll to bottom to system services > turn off setting time zone

At 7am i unplugged with 100% charge, usually with regular use of phone, facebook, internet, texting, email, photos, etc I have to plug in to recharge by 2pm bc it will be down to 12-15%, it is now 4:51pm and I am still at 68% with normal usage today!!!  This solved my problem, hope it solves your as well!

Have you wiped out and restored the phone as new? You didn't mention that in your list.

My guess is, that my new iPhone 4S tries so hard every second to get onto the 3G network, that it drains the battery.

I believe persistence is a root cause of the batter-drain issue - be it attempting to connect to 3G, WiFi, calendar, contacts or even sending an email.

I Have had no problems. Try this:

Before charging turn off { Hold top button and swipe the red bar when it drops down from the top).

The phone will turn on again after you connect the charger to the house plug.

I notice the phone does a LOT! of "house cleaning" before the "circle" stops spinning!

I've never been a fan of Apple, always opting for 2nd place handsets offered by the likes of Sony Ericsson and other manufacturers, however this year for the first time and mainly due to the slickness of the UI i bit the bullet and went for the Iphone 4s, i have pretty much all auto updates/sync/bluetooth/mail/notifications/location services etc switched off except SIRI and WIFI, on standby i'm losing 4% per hour, 40% over 10 hours, now i'm no mathematician but the quoted 200 hours standby time must be a misprint, 25-30 hours sounds like a more accurate figure and to be honest one i could live with however what will happen when i start actually using it as a proper communication device i'm not sure and this is the worrying bit...what i would say to those having serious battery issues is that if you can prove that the product has been mis-sold then you should be entitled to your money back (any airtime contract you entered into will most likely still remain in force), I don't imagine for one second however this will be an easy process as detailed user statistics would be needed in order to overshadow the loose terminology used in the Iphone specifications...the words 'up' and 'to' are used frequently so it will be down to you to prove it's the Iphone and not your usage style causing the excessive battery drain. I know for most this is not the answer as you want your Iphone 4s however if you bought a car that only ever got you half way to where you wanted to go would you keep it?.  :-)

You are in the wrong thread: please look in the iLife-product support thread ...

This solved my batter issues although after turning it off I did a full restart and run the battery down since then I've had a 'more normal' battery life (so far)

I ordered my phone from Apple on 7 Oct. and it arrived on 17 October. On Friday, 28 October - inside Apple's 14-day return policy - I called Apple Support to return the phone. The employee who assisted me, apologized for the problems, explained how the phone was to be returned, issued a shipping label and explained how my account would be refunded and the contract-eligibility would be reset once Apple received the phone back.

It was an absolutely easy process.

BTW, as for your comment about a car not meeting expectations, I also had a Dodge replaced under those circumstances. As consumers, I believe we should be fully aware of our rights and exercise them as we feel best serves our needs.

I don't think so, but I'm not sure I follow you but you seem to be hinting at the fact that either asking for respect is not something that belongs to this thread or that I should get a life? If you care for Apple, which is not really my case I'll concede, you have to care for your users and stand up when you see people hinting that if you find the situation unacceptable you may have mental heath issues. Because such behavior is prejudicial. You know this to be right and so do the 2 guys I was talking about, as they haven't replied. I know it's hard when you have someone not being an Apple lover who's right. Tough luck.

The point was, this is not an iPod Touch thread. As you stated, you have input on your Touch as you don't use iPhone for your smart phone needs. Try the Galaxy thread.

The only way I have been able to get decent battery life is to charge to full. Unplug from the charger and do a restart by holding down both buttons. This apparently kills whatever gets stuck during my charging cycle.

I understand Marc, but his reply actually links to the post where I quoted the guy saying you may have an issue bigger than the battery if you find the situation ridiculously unacceptable. So you're reading in. Yet I don't think I was infringing on 2.2 or 4.1 and there's no requirement to own such or such a product. But your point is valid nonetheless in spirit. Thanks.

    Current stats:

Usage 1 Hour, 30 minutes (actually normal usage for a Sunday)

    Standby  9 Hours, 43 Minutes

    74% battery.

Other than not having reloaded all my music and apps, I believe all services and settings are as I desire them to be.

This is two consecutive days of utilization that matches my expectations. Phone may not be going in the Fed Ex box tomorrow afterall.

Got my return kit from Sprint yesterday.  What the **** is this business about a $35 restocking fee?  Guess I will have to call and ***** at them.  They really don't want to keep their longtime loyal customers with this type of policy.

Barely used the iPhone all day, and battery is sitting @ 75%.  Still going back, as my Android phone doesn't drain battery this fast.  Been emailing, texting, downloading updates, rearranging the desktop into folders, that battery is at 67%.  To be fair, obviously, there is no 3G signal here, everything is being done via wi-fi, I have an extended battery, and I am using Juice Defender Ultimate.
