I kept seeing the "calaccessd" process consume my system resources. Removing Calendars from the Notification Center but leaving the "View in Locked Screen" fixed my battery drain issue. This is the "System Activity Monitor" app by Recession Apps.

I went from having to charge my phone 3x day to less than once a day now even with 2-3hrs of usage.

I'm currently at 63% with 2 hrs usage and 14 hours standby.

This worked for me too as I've been saying since Saturday (see page 128 of this thread). You are even showing a comparable screenshot of the massive CPU drain that I have as well.  For me it doesn't matter if "View in Locked Screen" is enabled or not.

Well, I'm not competing for contribution, as this has no practical impact whatsoever as I don't use an Iphone. Honestly I'm more in search of interesting stories to tell on my deathbed at the end of my life like "do you remember the time those 100 of thousands of people were reporting battery usage issues from a defective piece of software without ever letting the device really die?"... that sort of thing lollll You for one as an early adopter should be able to confirm or infirm that in your case, not merely speculate. My point was more is there a scenerio where such bad reporting exists and the answer is yes as this guy was doing 52 mins of youtube video at 1%, and that's pretty intense usage. I mean, just checking. In any case that beats sudoku for me!

    Cheers.

On my iPhone 4S, ocassionally my iPhone gets very warm and during that time I get a very large loss of battery life.  I also notice my battery life lasting less time than my 3GS phone lasted.  This is not acceptable.  Apple, please fix.  I would be happy to be part of your notification program to help you find the problem.

I will get my 4S tomorrow and I really hope that is just a problem related to IOS 5. If something goes wrong with the battery itself and the phone needs to be recalled to Apple Store, it will be a doom to me because I am in China. May God bless me

I SOLVED my iPhone 4S battery issue and posted on G+ (with screenshots) on how I am getting more than seven days of standby time (and the fix only takes about 5 minutes):

I'd be interested to hear if others are able to get the improvements I've gotten.

The more location services you have on the more it drains.  Keep Safari and maps on.  This was my answer.  I'm back to working great.

  • Victor81 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

For my case, it has been a 5% drain every 30 minutes... which works out to a flat battery in 10 hours.

Poking around the thread, the best suggestion so far has been this:

TURN OFF CALENDAR IN NOTIFICATIONS CENTER!!!

Same here - the 4S is my first iPhone, and I'm suprised how poor the battery life is - my little Blackberry did push email and lasted for 3-4 days before needing a charge. I don't understand why I need to charge my phone twice a day!

same here, just received my 4S on Friday (the launch date for Singapore) and i am now realising how bad the battery life is. I thought, maybe it takes a bit of time for the battery to get used to my usage, but it is not getting any better. i have read through these discussions and some other forums and still to no avail.

quite horrible when one has to worry about the phone running out of battery, and barely half a day has gone by.

i had also turned practically everything off (Siri, notifications and wifi - which basically turns the iphone into an expensive retina displaying mobile phone without all the bells and whistles one would expect from a 'smartphone').

i do hope somehow, there is a solution to it all.

I tried to reset all settings, which requires restore from iTunes backup.  I only get as far as the "connect phone to iTunes" screen.  iTunes recognizes the phone. syncing from iTunes seems to work, but I am still stuck on the "connect to iTunes" screen.  what up?

    Проблема:

    - iPhone быстро разряжается (от 1 до 3-4 часов)

    Модели:

    -  iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S (не проверено)

    Problem:
    - iPhone it is quickly discharged (from 1 till 3-4 o'clock)
    Models:
    - iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S (is not checked up)
    Symptoms:
    - The smartphone is quickly discharged
    - If to bring the smart phone to acoustic speaker it is audible – phone very often (permanently) interrogates a network
    - Select a Message sms – Change – marked any message – the Button to delete disappears in 1-3 seconds
    The decision:
    1. Some times "train" the accumulator: the full discharge – a charge with usage of an original charger
2.! Leave only local contacts (100 % you mail record this is Exchange, and mail account contacts is On)

It is checked up on six devices

So I've been having pretty mad drainage issues - tried everything!

Last night I did a full charge and disconnected just before I went to sleep.

So 100% - but trying cell data off this time.

This has made a huge difference, still not brilliant - 8 hours 42 mins later @ 79%

BUT the biggest shock is that with the phone just sat on the desk not being touched all night the usage stats say Usage: 4hrs 20mins!!!!!
