Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I SOLVED my iPhone 4S battery issue and posted on G+ (with screenshots) on how I am getting more than seven days of standby time (and the fix only takes about 5 minutes):

I'd be interested to hear if others are able to get the improvements I've gotten.

    It works!

I just realized when my mother asked me why my battery is dying so fast on my brand new phone that the battery life on my new iphone 4s hasn't been impressive... and upon looking it up here, i've found out i'm not alone!

Is there any fix for this? Is this an across the board problem or has it just affected certain iphones?

Notifications > Calendar did NOT work for me.

I think there are a few issues here so what works for one might not work for another.

    @abe-froman ... me neither.

With Notofications-calendar turned off and TimeZone-thing turned off, my iPhone 4S last around 9 hours (on standby) with no apps running what so ever .

On top of this, my iPhone have big problems getting on the 3G network.

    Hi,

Had the same battery issue (4s/ 64Gb) and fixed it by turning off one setting, namely the time zone location service. You can find the fix in most iPhone bloggs and it seems to be a software bug.

    Best,

    W.

    @ MojoDK

Not ideal I know but turning off cellular data and using wifi only has really helped.

It's the 4 hours 'usage' whilst I was asleep that concerns me!

Is 2-3% drop in charge normal for a 10 minute call? I don't have the drain issue has others have had but when I use anything such as web or phone, I notice the percentage drop quickly.

Just disabling the Location Based time zone setting has fixed my issue with batter life. 1 day usage is now 2 days.

"I think there are a few issues here so what works for one might not work for another."

Exactly. Which is why it's pretty useless for someone to come here claiming that he has the utlimate solution to the issues. So, what's needed is "triage". I suggest anyone posting could answer a minimal set of questions like the following:

-have you restored the phone from an Iphone4 restore or to a new device?

-have you really made sure to use the device until it really shuts off or did you charge when you saw there was only a few % of battery left i.e. did you rely on the battery indicator or the real world?

    -what's your timezone? city?

-do you use Exchange? what is your email provider?

    -what is your carrier?

    etc.

Isn't that what they do when you call for support and such. Well, there are reasons for that. Someone with more experience with the device should elaborate this set of questions. I don't know if you guys see where I'm getting at... with this you can profile the issues and accordingly, the solutions...  and so really help each other until Apple figures it out... I just can't believe after 2000+ pôsts nobody thought about it. You guys are truly used to everything working right out of the box. I really have sympathy for the Apple support staff when they have to talk you guys through these things...

Of course turning everything off saves battery, but that goes without saying.

    Anyways, good luck!

Hello all, i got my iPhone 4S friday (day one in Italy), and I'd like to know if this is normal:

Stand by: 1 day 0 hour.

In use: 2 hours 41 minutes.

    Battery percentage: 59 %.

The curious is that during the night, when I didn't use at all my iPhone (23:25 - 09:40) I lost 7% having it only in standby.

Hoping to get answers soon, thanks.

Just got my 4S yesterday. Restored data from previous iPhone 4 backup. I didnt realize the drain until this morning when after 30 mins of use, battery indicator drop from 100% to 89%. Then i did what most people suggested here, disable location service for time zone and few more apps, and disable notification for calendar, and lastly recharge it to 100%. Then i watch the battery drain ... 3% in 30mins. At 97%, i thought i should do a hard reboot (pressing both buttons until the Apple logo appear) to see what will happen. Amazingly, before rebooting it was 97%... after rebooting, battery indicator reflected 99%.

Anyway, i will monitor the discharge of the battery and update everyone. As of now, after 6 hours of standby and mild usage, battery is showing 72%. which is draining faster than my previous 4.... but totally acceptable since the 4S is supposed to have less standby time (200 hours) compared to 4 (300 hours).

    Anyway here's the triage

Restored from previous iPhone 4 via PC (not Mac or iCloud)

First charge ... device still have not gone flat

    Time zone - GMT + 8, Singapore

Desperate. New Iphone 4S battery life is very short. After 2 hours of standbt it tells me that I used it for 2 hours and the baterry dropped 20%. Everything I could is switched off?  Is Apple working on a solution?

When is Apple going to make a statement on the problem which is obviously widespread?
