Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I have tried all that "tricks" and workarounds, nothing changes, yesterday i killed my gmail account, no push,  no automatic timezone, no gps services etc.

Did a full charge yesterday before went to bed:

    22:55 - 100 % battery

    07:50 - 80 % battery with no use - so i lost 20 % in 9 hours standby only

    at time 09:25 i had only 71%

    my statistics at this time:

    Standby 10:35

    Usage 5:35 (??????)

    4 Minutes Calls

    96 KB Data Up

    122 KB Data down

now it`s 18:43 (german time), battery is at 22 %

    stats are:

    standby 19:43

usage: 10:59 (i did NOTHING, only a few short calls, in summary 11 minutes)

    11 Minutes Calls

    312 KB Data Up

    484 KB Data Down

i also have the poular "deactivate sim pin" problem! i'm thinking about to give the phone back to apple and switching back to my 3gs, because i need a MOBILE PHONE for work and this battery life problem is not acceptable for me.. the guys in the new flagship store in hamburg germany told me, it's normal that you have to charge your iphone twice a day!!! they aren't really informed about that problem and i hate these kind of politics from apple, that they don't face the problem and talk to us!

Maybe I am the lucky one but I have been using mine for 6 hours today and I am at 76%. Because of all these same comments I bought a Morphie Juice Pak and that more than doubles my battery life.

This is getting ridiculous. I tried most of the fixes online (turning off location services, fetching mail, etc), and yet.....look at this! My battery's at 22% after using it for 3-4 hours?!

@Punk4Real, I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but have you tried the following?

My iPhone 4S is now at 70% after 35 hours.

    RELAX!

The Apple Technicians are no dummies and a fix will be issued soon.  Apple has taken us this far with such a amazing product that I seriously doubt they will leave us high and dry.

Focus yourselves on other things, preferably things that benefit mankind and our society.  I am a technician myself and usually ignore and toss out "stupid ranting" emails because they are of no benifit to anyone.

What I would recommend for everyone to do is learn to deal with the current situation by sitting tight and finding a simple solution for the moment, like buying another charger, either for your car or home, until the fix is released.

    Peace

I have everything (Bluetooth, Location Services, Notifications, etc.) turned on the same way I did for iOS 4 on my iPhone 4. At first battery life was horrible with iOS 5 compared to  iOS 4. I also started getting storage warnings. I turned off Photo Stream and cleared out a bunch of space so I have some disk space, and now my battery life is reasonable again. I think.

Is there anyone who made a restore and now the 4s battery is better?

from HTC Hero(Sprint) to iPhone 4S. Battery life about the same if not worse. VERY POOR!!! Huge dissapointment. From all comments I've read I'm betting IOS5 is possible culprit. Come on Apple...please acknowledge! Don't make me JB my 4S.

I got my iPhone 4S 6 days ago and I can't believe the battery drain.  I have applied all the battery saving tips found in apple forums on this serious problem and I'm still burning through battery power like nobody's business with minimal or mere standby usage.

To test I set a timer on a full charge and left the phone on - took no calls, did no surfing, email, nothing...and I measured battery drain by the hour.  After hour 1 I was at 86%, afer 2 hours 74%.  Unless I've got a bad battery in this phone, I can't understand how is such poor performance even possible.

This morning I ran down to 54% in just 4 hours with a total use of about 30 minutes including email, news reading and some light surfing but no calls.

I haven't run a full battery cycle yet, but at this rate of drain, I won't even come remotely close to Apple's published standby or talk time specifications.

I called apple tech support on this on Oct 30, and they told me they were not aware of this issue but that I should head to my local apple store to have a battery diagnostic done - something I will probably have to do, because as is, this is not practically useable for day to day normal use.

I am also having the problems with Iphone 4S Battery. Even in standby mode my battery is coming only 28hours instead of 200hours(as advertised) . I am totally disappointed.

A apple bug, my 4s drains in just a few hours. I am going to take it back to the Apple store when I get time.

I, too, am having many of the same issues, Actually had to recharge the phone mid-day today. However, one area that seems to be different on my phone is that under Settings>General>Usage the "Time Since last full charge" is simply two bars. I realize the two meters reset after a full charge, but on my phone, the two meters have never displayed any numbers. It's as if the phone never reaches a full charge even though I have been through five cycles with full drains each time.
