Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

My battery life is still pretty bad.  I have done everything under the sun to improve it.  Today I did the full wipe and setup as new again.  Reloaded everything.  At 4pm my phone was at 100%.  Now at 9:37pm it is down to 74% with very little usage.  All location services are off except Find my Phone and Siri.  Very little in the way of Notifications are on.  I do keep WiFi and Bluetooth on at all times.  On my iPhone 4 I would have been at around 90%+ battery life.  I think that this a software issue as when I put iOS5 GM on my iPhone 4, my battery life got worse.  Apple, please find out what it is in the operating system that is causing the issue.

Having bluetooth and wi-fi turned on all the time will always put extra drain on the battery, so this doesn't necessarily indicate that something is wrong.

The good news, though, is that the battery problem is most probably software and not hardware related. I'm sure Apple is working on a fix, but they need to find out exactly what the cause of the problem is, and this could take some time. I do agree, however, that Apple should do a better job giving feedback to its users and make an official statement.

Try owning a Motorola phone and expecting any updates or any acknowldgement that a problem exists. It will never happen.

I've noticed that while texting is when my battery drops a lot.  Last night it dropped about 10% in a matter of 10-15 minutes.  Anyone else noticing that?

I have a similar issue. When I don't use my phone-sleeping, etc. the battery level drops by 0.5 to 1% per hour which is nice. But when I use it it drops by 30% per hour. I am lucky to get 3 hours of use.

I've got terrible battery life with a UK Black 16GB.

I'm lucky to get through the day at work, about 11 hours altogether off the charger.

This is with very light use, 1 push exchange account, the odd bit of texting.

I've tried all of the suggestions in here, resetting, turning various things on and off but none of it has made any difference.

Next step is an Apple shop but I don't really want to waste time to be told it's all ok.

Any cause and potential fix yet or worth just grinning and bearing a trip to the store?

Good thing then, that we're talking about an Apple-product here, and not Motorola

Just a thought, I'm wondering if there is a conflict with MobileMe specific apps (like iDisk and Mobile Photo Gallery)?  If you still have these on your phones, yet have migrated to iCloud this may be a problem.  I deleted them from my phone awhile ago (when it had poor performance).

I have everything turned off on my phone (Wi-Fi, Location Services, Bluetooth) - Not notifications; and only use my phone for light email, texting, and web browsing (I use it as a phone once, or twice a day); but, still my battery is dropping like crazy.  in 4 1/2 hours today, it is down to 55% battery life left.   It has mostly been sitting on my desk.

I am at the point where I am going to switch back to my 3GS.  I could use that thing all day, with no issues.

I need to unsubscribe from this thread.  Each e-mail update I receive costs me about 1% battery life

I have tried eveything from a full restore to letting my battery drain completly, the only thing that seems to work is go to settings, location , scroll down tap location services, turn off everything on this page besides cell network, the other thing i did was turn off notification center all together just to test it out, so far so good, uplugged and using for 3 hours so far and battery at 94%, yesterday battery was at 40% by the same time. There has to be a bug with notification center and location services constantly running in the background. Hope this helps until there is a fix released........

Apple invited OTA in iOS 5 so why not push out a update for this annoying battery problem? Could it be hardware related?

It is great that we cannot use the features that we purchased these things for.  I want my old phone back!

Can you turn everything on and charge to 100% and leave your phone unattended for exactly 1 hour and chart the battery level?
