Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    Here's my current percentage:

    Batt: 50%

    Usage: 3hr, 47 min

    Standby: 12hr, 52 min.

No wifi, only 3G. Light texting, some calls and a bit of gaming.

    Mine:

    Exchange (fetch 15 minutes)

    Calendars off on notifications center

    Timezone off

    82% (emails fetch 15 minutes)

Usage 1 hours and 16 minutes

Standby 8 hours and 20 minutes

Do you think that is good or BAD?

    thanks

My phone works fine. You guys are probably just Android lovers trying to create a buzz. Apple's products are perfect and always will be. Long Live Steve Jobs!!!

Yours seems normal to me. Assuming your 1hr 16min of use was wifi only (which uses the least amount of battery juice), that's a little over 12% battery drain (according to specs) on top of the 4% from standby (8 hrs at abuot 0.5% per hour) for around 16%.

If you had in fact used your phone, or used 3G instead of wifi, then it would appear you're doing better than spec.

    Maybe a few hints here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8811596/Mobile-phone-users-sufferin g-from-text-neck.html

Text neck. How important it is to take care of that neck of yours if you don't want to become a hunchback of cupertino or an android. Not only is it a matter of public health, but also do you think that such a hunchback posture is attractive? It may just be another reason why you're womanless. I see it all the time. If holding your smartphone at eye level you find is demanding, then maybe you're due for a few hours at the gym. Go tone those arms because it's a very light device.

Also, when you've walking on the street or in public transport areas and such, pay attention to your surroundings. So often I see young women crossing the street texting or even stopping right in the middle of the street and gesticulating as they've lost their signal or just came accross one of their friends pictures wearing less than trendy clothing.

Finally eye contact. When you walk the streets, pretending to do something important on your smartphone as you cross someone won't shield you from anything. Eye contact will give you the extra fractions of a second to react if needed, or simply to smile... In general, you should walk with your head straight, and your nose slightly elevated... I mean look up to some trees, and your general surroundings. When I walk my dog I notice most of the time he looks down. It's important to look at things and to look up to stimulate the brain in ways that text messaging can never achieve. Plus eye contact is important to gain and impose respect out of people. I don't mean stare at people, I mean establish eye contact and walk like a man/woman who is "present" and takes his/her place in this world.

And you might just end up with better battery performance! Battery performance is good when you no longer think about it and the device carries you at least through the day. It's not a contest where you disable everything on the phone to make it last for days then come brag about it lollll A better question is "how long will I last in this life?"

p.s. Apple, when I type "proper posture smartphone Apple" in Google, you guys should have a page about this...

By my calculation you will get 5.5 hour of usage time before the phone goes down in a heap. Thats a little below the 9hour stated use on wifi.

Mine will go aorund 6 hours, which is stilll low. I've tried almost everything, short of resetting everyting and NOT reloading my previous backups/settings.  I will try that next.

I'm having the battery issue with my new iPhone 4s. I did not have this issue with the iPhone 4. What should I do? I just got the phone yesterday. Wondering if I should return it...

    @AxonJaxson

like andriod users photoshopping screenshot and making stuff up? "Apple's products are perfect and always will be"... nice postive way of looking at things but perfection does not happen often in real life.

Your's seem ok, 3hr,50min at 50% will get you around 7 hours of uses on 3G.  More than advertised.

Can you guys post some usage hours rather than saying I used the iPhone "intensely"?

Go to Settings->General->Usage->(scrool to bottom)->Time since last full charge:

Post your current percentage, and how many hours of usage/standby it shows.

    Here is mines:

Do you think this is normal:

         Batt@44%

         Usage 3hr,30min

         Standby 15hours,24min

This is without  3G, just WIFI, and normal cell connection. Haven't made a call, or SMS.

    Thanks

If all you did was wifi, then 3.5 hours of just wifi is about 38-39% battery usage (assuming all is within spec). On top of this, the phone would normally drain about 7-8% battery just for the 15 hours of being disconnected from the charger. This puts you around 45-47% total use, or about 55% battery remaining. Are there other processes running such as locations, email push/fetch? Those would add to the total usage as well. I'd be concerned if the 3hr30min usage time didn't actually match with your usage. But if you in fact used it for 3.5 hours, it doesn't seem too far away from spec if you also account for all the other network processes that may have occured within the 15 hours that it's been off its charger.

Ive been having terrible battery life on mine during the day usually down to 10% by 5pm with very little use, so I decided to fully charge from 0% last night and leave it all day today without using it, the results so far are:

    Batt: 87%

    Usage: 13 mins

    Standby 20 Hours, 3 mins

No calls, text data, received or made.

Dont know where the 13 mins have come from? as it has not been used once since charging, everything is off including data, wifi etc.

Although this seems fine but as soon as I make a call or use the phone the battery % drops dramatically.

It's good (sorta) to have that long list of AWDD reports. It seems to convince them at the Apple Store that there really *is* something going wrong with the phone. I hope those reports are meaningful to the Apple team that is trying to figure out the problem.

Hearing from people who have excellent battery life gives me great hope that this phone has the potential to be really, really good. Come on Apple! I'm rooting for you!
