Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Having same problem here guys!  Got brand new iphone 4s two days ago and battery drained from 100% to 0% both days with not much useage at all!  Just listen to music on the way to work (an hour) and same back and in between send a few messages and use the odd app here and there.  Didnt expect the battery to completely rinse in a day!!  Oh and Siri ***** too!  When they gonna localise that as well!  But back to battery life, they need to sort this out asap...

    Hello Folks,

Just wanted to share how I fixed my iPhone 4S battery issue to get 3.5 days of light usage, and the steps only takes 5 minutes:

I know the steps helped a few out there, so I'm reposting it.

I realized I was having a battery problem early on too.  Then there was a short story on the news tonight saying that Apple knew about the problem.  I figure they'll just send out a software update to fix it.  Too bad, that ios 5 software update sounded great but did quite a bit of damage.  Gladly it's all fixable.

Mine as well.  And it only seems to get worse each day.  It's literally a count down timer and almost never makes it past 40% before the phone just dies.  Irritating part now is that it takes well over 30 minutes sometimes for the phone to power back up.

That's on top of the ipod issues as well.  So far iOS 5 kinda ***** when it comes down to it.

For what its worth, I think I have the problem solved on my iPhone 4S.  I had done a restore from my iPhone 4 backup.  To fix the problem, try the folowing:

    1) Remove all email accounds from your device.

    2) Under General -> Reset, Select "Reset Network Settings"

    3) reconfigure Wi-Fi when that finishes

    4) re-add mail accounts

Ever since I did that, it seems like my battery is lasting much longer.  Does that help anyone else?

Well I thought I was good, and not having any battery issues, but after my 31rst day ( first month) of having it, I noticed my battery lower than normal. Didn't think much till today,(31) now it is noticeably worse. Instead of being 40- 50% or so at close of work 7.5 hr day, it was 25%. I have the pretty much the same usage each day, and make sure I close apps during day too.

Some of the things mentioned to turn off to help battery life where done the day I got the phone. Like others have said,it's not right to buy a phone that you have to cut off most of the features to be able to use it..

It seems that they acknowledged the problem in a semi-denial way, a "small" numer of users affected (see the link below!). My daughter received hers a couple of days ago. The bettery won't even last for a day with normal use.

not sure why but today is better - I did a few tweaks posted here but nothing drastic - still check for email every 15 min and I have some location services on - just noticed I am still at 47% and phone has been on since 7am - no calls today but a crockload of emails.

Anyone read this article? It's quite an eye opener for me.

I switched off  my iPhone 4S and on again this morning after using it to surf on wifi for 10mins of so and battery dropped from 100% to 99%. Guess what, after switching on... battery indicator shows 100%.

I think battery indicator is not reflective of the actual juice available in the phone. 2 days in a row i did this, and both occasion battery indicates different %.

I have the same problem.  My 3GS lasted 2 days.  The 4s barely makes it to noon.  Horrible.  Avid Apple fan but this is ridiculous.  Not enough great things about the 4S to make me want to keep it at this point.

I left home with 100%, drove to work with the 4S idle in my pocket, and its 95% now... 5% drop within 30mins while its in idle mode?! This doesn't make any sense... My 2-year old 3GS can outlast my 2-day old 4S... iPhone 4S... "Battery not really included"?

perhaps this is why 'calibrating' the battery seems to work.  when you power down until the battery has no juice it turns off...

interesting.  but why is this not necessary for older iphone models?

The thread is slightly boring... as if the news of the upcoming 5.0.1 calmed everybody down... maybe that was the goal. In any case hopefully the fix will add value to the existing offer from Apple. I hope it does the trick for you guys.

In turn, I think this review will add value to MS's offer. If you're fed up of reading about battery life, I mean, people rant, but while Apple and Android basically emulate themselves, MS comes out with some original and surprising offer. Ok, it's not necessarily a top tier OS, yet who would have thought they could make it at all - and further dare I say look that good?

Btw, is he saying he got 23 hours of battery usage with that phone? lolll.

Those guys make beautiful reviews, including one of your beloved Iphone4S (8.6/10):

***?? iPhone 4S battery life is ridiculous! And PS - siri's not so great either - she can never connect to the Internet! All in all a BIG disappointment.
