Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Just got my new iPhone 4S 64GB this week, and was completely disappointed in the battery life.  My 3GS would last me for about 2 days before I had to charge it and I texted, made calls, surfed and worked in apps.  Has apple said when they expect the new software update to occur to fix this? Battery life is really bad on this version, so unlike Apple.  I have already turned off: Bluetooth, send diagnostic data, raise siri, location aware.... I feel like I am turning off pieces of the product that I want to use.

@kimoTexas:  Same battery life issue.  I also upgraded from 3GS to 4S.  I turned off many features to make the battery life last longer but what's the point of getting iPhone 4S if I can't use any of the features I like.

Anyway, I finally called Apple Tech Support today (Nov 6, 2011) and was told to:

    1. Back-up my iPhone 4S

    2. Restore to factory setting

    3. Then add the back-up files to iPhone 4S

Hopefully this will resolve the issue.  Also, I asked the tech support if there was a patch coming out soon to fix this battery life issue, she wouldn't deny nor confirm it.

The first couple nghts would go to bed with 35-40% and wake up to "dead" phone. Well, 3 or 4 full battery cycle calibrations later and I seem to have a respectable battery life without turning off this or that. I also did a couple resets in there. I use google maps,Siri,locations,wifi,3g,bluetooth and have gone to bed after a long day with around 40-50% remaining. Still have yet to monitor idle drain with everything on cause I've been turning all draining functions off @ bedtime.

It'd be interesting now you have 5.0.1!

Since Apple is reporting "A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices", I'm adding my complaint so the number of complaints reflects how widespread the problem is.  The battery ife on my new 4S *****!  My years old 3S's battery lasted a **** of alot longer, and that battery needed to be replaced!

Everything turned off (WiFi , location and time zone settings, double-click to close background apps...). Battery is draining at 10% per hour. I noticed that "usage" is indicating the same time as "stand-by", while I have not been using anything.

I love my phone also and I only recently noticed the battery drain.  Hopefully the update will be soon!  Anybody have an idea when it will be?

My new iphone4s is dropping >15% per hour, and was dead when I woke up this morning. I am trying reset on the diagnosticis so it doesn't autosend.

My wife also has a new 4s, but her phone only drops <5% per hour. She does not have icloud enabled, but I do.

I sometimes have to charge my 4s up twice to keep it at an okay percentage. i charged it from flat at about 7pm last night and took it off charge at 12am, went to bed at 1am *barely used it may i add as i was on the computer / everyone was asleep obviously at this time!* woke up and my phone was dead?? i admit checking it a few times, also if i woke up during the night, but this is just a press of the home button, MENTAL. it drops a good 10% every half hour it'd seem! i'm new to apple products and i am so pleased to have an iphone, it beats any other handset most definatley, but if the battery life doesn't get any better i am thinking of selling it and going to nokia i think!

** also may i add it was charging whilst i was googling about this problem - pleasingly finding i was not the only one, i turned off the location thingy, and bluetooth isn't on, i've deactivated facebook so theres no background things happening like notification popping up, it has been charged since 12 and unplugged and it's at 80% and i've imessaged someone twice...

My iphone drops about 15-20% her hour on battery life, dead in 5 hours and I am not making a ton of calls or using apps heavily.
