Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Has anyone else noticed that the battery drain happens only over the 3G Network (not wifi) with certain apps that require data?  I've noticed my iPhone 4S heating up using certain apps over 3g but not at home over wifi.

    @umairz

I can't use anything at work except 3G which is the data network. My laptop is encrypted so nothing can be installed or connected. I know how to use computer. So if I want to watch you tube, tell me what can I do to watch then if not 3G data network? I don't want to risk losing my job for the joy of the shiny device.

Give me some suggestions or other alternatives so I can make correction with the new one.

P.S: If I use this phone to make phone call (sarcasm all you want), I can go to Wal-Mart and get a $20 one. This iPhone is the test for my patience. I already lost that battle by returning it after so many try-outs . And I am not a man

Here are some interesting related articles.  Fortunately, my phone is working fine -- I charge it about every two days.  So maybe a firmware fix will work for everybody.

A couple of posts mention dropping the phone down the window. Please do not pollute the environment... These electronics contain chemicals and should be recycled at the appropriate facility. And hopefully these won't end up in someone's backyard in south-east Asia, Africa or India. We produce 25 million tons of electronic waste a year.

Totaly agreed with you. Keep the environment clean. What is the point of throwing the phone out of the window for?

If it is not working, then get it fixed. If it can't be fixed, then return it. If you can't return it, then you lose your gamble as the pioneers in new gadget. Lessons learnt.

You are so lucky with the battery. I am so jealous. If my phone could last for a day with the charge at night. I would be so happy.

oh boy you people are getting serious!

@prkgs, i was just joking about using computer, of course we bought htis gadget to use 3g but unfortunately we all are in the same boat, the battery drains fast if you continue using 3g and i normally browse websites at work so i really dont care that much so pretty much my phone is just used to txt few peopel and that i meant really few txt msgs. And of course we could but a $20 phone man, but the whole purpose was to get all teh facilities in a small gadget but teh battery is screwed up until apple fixes it(which i am still doubtful) but we'll see.

I am the same as radio50. I do not have a battery problem at all. Been using it today at work, and its at 77%. Had a local contractor come into the office today, he said he did not have a problem either with his. I am scratching my head wondering why some have bad battery issues and some do not.

If the problem has anything to do with settings, a reboot may be needed in order for the phone to actually make use of the new settings. For example, if your phone is draining battery because it's stuck in a program loop due to one of the settings, turning the setting off won't necessarily break the loop and you still continue to drain power out out of your battery.

Hopefully the updates will fix the issues that are causing these situations from occurring.

...but throwing money out of the window is quite acceptable and you guys are used to it, so please do

Because of course, analyzing one's budget it's not only the phone. There's also the hip pastel "case" to strenghten the radio signal, the (5 yo type game) apps - and that will easily amount to 100-200$ a year - the (commercial indie) music, the (all bass low fidelity Beats) earphones, the bluetooth headset and of course the data plan. There might also be, the proper (pink) shirt, (down to the knees) trousers and shiny Converse shoes to accessorize with the phone. So after a few years that easily comes down to the same amount as a down payment on a house. I've met people in my life driving a Ferrari but living in a basement one room flat. Enter lifestyling small hands hunchbacks with the small... battery - the new breed Epic, as you say.

That would not be entirely out of the realm of possibilities since older apps were designed for a slightly different CPU. But since both chips are supposedly "Apple" chips, you'd think there wouldn't be any compatibility issues.

Don't let me lose hope man. I want Apple to fix it so I will have an iPhone with all of the facilities in a small device. Let's hope then.

I am glad that you have a great sense of humor. At least, you make it quite interesting to come to this forum than entirely gloomy process of battery issue with no assured day for fixing the problems.

Thank you but I don't have much merit, I simply just can't find the option to delete my Apple ID and free myself from the forum lollll.

I wish you a good battery, one could say!
