Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    @jourabchid

Have you tried out the suggestion from Radio50 post? A couple of my friends tried to do the same tricks and they were ok. Their batteries were fine now. But they did mention that they let the battery drain out completely and fully charged it 2 or 3 times. So I really don't know what was the issue with the iPhone. Why some of the tricks made the phone work fine and others didn't? Is it some kind of battery defect in certain phones and some don't? Have no clue. Wish Apple could give us some answers to fix the headache problems.

    Tips:

    32gb Orange UK ( black )

    Ok hope this helps?

I have done a lot of what's said on here. I now turn off Mobile Data located in: Settings> General> Network> Mobile data> set it to off - I only put that on if I need to surf or require 3G, when you are on WiFi turn mobile data off - its better than airplane mode as you can recieve texts and calls, Mobile Data turned off also stops it burning the battery when in low signal areas. I managed 9hr 6min usage/24 hours standby until it was totally flat ( switched itself off ), that usage was surfing/texting/calls/apps and using msn some on WiFi some on 3G.

The list of changes I have done:

    Push e-mails off ( manual fetching )

I cloud - on - all other settings off - Back up off ( find my mobile is on ).

I back up to iTunes ( WiFi sync off )

Siri is on ( all functions )

    Location Services:

    Compass - on

    Diagnostics & Usage - off

    Location Based iAds - off

Mobile network services - on ( Please watch this, sometimes it gets stuck on - turn it off for a few seconds then back on should sort it )

    Setting Time Zone - off

    Traffic - off

WiFi setting switch the Ask to Join Networks to off.

I have reduced my screen brightness - so turn the Auto off and set it lower.

Apps set as required, but remember notifications etc will cost battery so just have a think if you need all of them to notify you.

I have also done 2 total drains of the battery ( to the point of it switching itself off ) and after each drain a 16 hour unbroken charge cycle.

It might not work for everyone but give it a go!

Hope it helps until the fix

TEMPORARY FIX FOR IPHONE 4S POWER ISSUE - IT WORKS!

I'm an ACMT and I experimented it for almost a week to see if it helps.

Here's how my iPhone 4S lasts for 9 Hours 9 Minutes Uses & 11 Hours 2 Minutes Standby + 1 Hour 40 Minutes Call Period with Average 3.2 MB Cellular Network Data Sent and 72.4MB CND Received.

You may follow the friendly instruction to stay alive with your iPhone 4S until beloved Apple rolls out a fix with its update, which is, for sure, Apple is working out really hard even by this time I'm writing here these instructions. Let me help all of your prescious people positively:

    01. Connect your iPhone 4S to iTunes and on the SUMMARY page, mark on BACK UP TO THIS COMPUTER only.

    02. Uncheck SYNC WITH THIS IPHONE OVER WI-FI if it has been checked by default.

    03. Uncheck all tabs under INFO, APPS, RINGTONES, MUSIC, MOVIES, TV SHOWS, BOOKS, PHOTOS pages.

    04. Now, click RESTORE under SUMMARY page.

    05. Click BACK UP.

    06. Restore to factory default and as the restore process is just finished, set up your iPhone 4S as NEW. (PLEASE DO NOT BACK UP FROM THE PREVIOUS BACK UPS OR THE LATEST BACK UP. JUST SET YOUR IPHONE UP AS NEW IPHONE)

    07. Since you have just setup your iPhone 4S as NEW iPHONE, please EJECT YOUR IPHONE AND DISCONNECT FROM ITUNES.

    08. In your phone, follow the screen procedures.

    09. Set up your LAUNGAGE, COUNTRY.

    10. Next, DISABLE LOCATION SERVICES.

    11. Setup Wi-Fi.

    12. Next, SET UP AS NEW IPHONE.

    13. Next, SIGN IN WITH AN APPLE ID.

    14. Next, go for DON'T USE iCLOUD.

    15. Next, chose BACK UP TO MY COMPUTER.

    16. Next, chose DON'T USE SIRI.

    17. Next, chose DON'T FIND MY iPHONE.

    18. Now, click on START USING iPHONE.

    19. Now, click on SETTINGS, GENERAL, NETWORK, and tap to OFF DATA ROAMING.

    20. Now, tap back on GENERAL, and then tap on SPOTLIGHT SEARCH and UNCHECK ALL.

    21. Now, tap back on GENERAL, and then tap on DATE & TIME. Then tap on SET AUTOMATICALLY OFF.

    22. Now, tap back on GENERAL, and then tap back on SETTINGS and then tap on INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANT OFF.

    23. Now, tap on WI-FI and tap on ASK TO JOIN NETWORKS OFF.

    24. Now, tap on NOTIFICATIONS and CHECK ON MANUALLY.

    25. Now, tap on BRIGHTNESS and tap on AUTO-BRIGHTNESS OFF, and glide the brightness bar to slightly lower than 25% with your fair asumption.

Once you have attempted to these 25 instructions which you extremely well did, I would like to offer one recommendation for now: DO NOT INSTALL TWITTER PLEASE if no loss you see.

Please do not charge your iPhone over your COMPUTER. Use the supplied wall charger for the timebeing until the new updates Apple rolls out probably next week by this time (postiive asumption).

You may find it silly, but as a technician point of view and as far as I have experimented it, let your iPhone 4S on charge before you go to sleep, eventhough it has half charge or you have already charged it few times during day, and as you let it charge on the wall power supply, please put your precious device to the AIRPLANE MODE ON until you get up next morning. Unplug your iPhone and turn the AIRPLANE MODE ON.

NOW ENJOY THE DRASTIC POWER LASTING FOR THE WHOLE DAY IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN TO INSTRUCT!

Someone pease help!  After increasing problems with the battery life of my phone it will now no longer even turn back on.  Since updating to iOS5 my phone would be dead after being on a wall charger all night.  I would wake up to find the dead battery and charge symble.  And now I cannot even get it to turn back on no matter how long I leave it on the wall charger.  If anyone has any suggestions I owoulf greatly appreciate it.  Thank you in advance.

    Connect in the computer.

    Open iTunes

Press Lock + Home  until the iPhone resets

When you see the Apple on the screen, release Lock but keep pressing Home

Entering in DFU and try to make a restore using iTunes

    Please let us know

    Good luck

That no longer works either.  I've tried just about everything and nothing works.  I'm beyond angry at this point since I spent way too much on a phone that is barely a paper weight now.

Email configured to PUSH. Because i dont have many emails (probably 1-2 a day for the me.com account... most of my emails goes to my blackberry)... so i thought its ok to PUSH. If i set to FETCH at 15 mins interval,... the phone will propagate every 15 mins to look for email, which i think will drain more battery.

Sounds like you have a faulty battery. Go and get your iPhone replaced.

Maybe.  The phone was just fine till the iOS update.  After that it's been all down hill.  And very quickly.
