Smartphones will no doubt revitalize the fixed-line industry. Just like tablets will create demand for keyboard based ereaders with embedded wordprocessing. Time will tell!

Same problem here.I see no difference from 5.0.

Still terrible battery life in iOS 5.0.1 with location services off, brightness on low, and raise to speak turned off.

Just updated to 5.0.1 on iphone 4s and it seems even worst than before the update, already lost 5% in 15min. of doing nothing with a black screen sitting on the table.

This the the thread that'll never end....

    Update is a joke!

IOS 5.0.1 has fixed nothing for me.

  • Hy2rogen Level 1 Level 1 (15 points)

    Installed 5.0.1...

Amazing results, but have to not add my Corporate exchange account, similar to 5.0.

Best time is 6.5 hours mixed usage, and 2 days (48 hours) standby. Everything detailed in this thread has been gone through to save battery.

It is interesting that as soon as my corporate account is added I go from .5% per hour standby to 3.6%, effectively cutting my standby time in half. Albiet I am happy only charging once every two days.

I have the exactly same issue. Why? Any thoughts?

This update does nothing to resolve the battery issues plaguing "some" users. 80% - 1 hour of usage according to phone (10 text messages accounted for)... Unbelieveable.

  • rishan Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Obviously the iOS 5.0.1, which is "supposed" to fix battery drain issue has not helped MOST of the users.

    Now what???

  • musapusa Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

THE UPDATE IS A FAKE . CONFIRMED . I DID COME UP WITH THE SOLUTION THAT WORKS 100 %. TURN OFF YOUR IPHONE AND KEEP IT OFF . AND YOUR BATTERY MIGHT LAST 20 HOURS !!!

I did a clean restore to 5.0.1 and battery issue still remind terrible!!!! I am so dissapointed that I sold my Iphone 4 and got the 4S. This phone is a real joke! I bought it last week and I am going to try to return it!!! I had all Iphones in the past and also have a Macbook and Ipad 2. I am so dissapointed at Apple after this " battery fix update". If someone from applecare is reading this post, it would be a good idea that you report to a higest departments all these people concerns! Thank you!

I am having a similar problem as well.

My iPhone 4s battery life just drains away. I bought it last Saturday and the phone was fine then. I had pretty decent battery life for the first couple of days. But then on the third day i charged it to full and then ever since Monday, my usage and standby is reading the same time. I did a little research and most people say that there might be a rogue app running in the background that i cant close. I thought that the new update would fix it but the usage and standby times still read the same number. I really am considering returning the iPhone and getting the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Upgrade from ios5.0 to ios 5.0.1 did nothing, in fact it made it worse.

Amazing...277 pages of posts, all saying the same thing - that this update to ios5.0.1 is worse or no better.

I hope apple is reading this and addresses it asap.

It may be a hardware issue, since my wife's iPhone 4 is on ios5, and has no battery issues.

1 hour 24 minutes and 73% left on battery.  Litle or no usage... this is a joke, seriously... it's far worse than ios5.0

I have done all the "fixes" already, and they still don't help.

Yes, I have done a clean reinstall (took quite a long time all for nothing!).

I am an Apple fanboy, but this is really starting to get me down.

I do not want a refurbished iPhone in exchange.  Luckily I bougth mine with Amex platinum, who will back me up on a return because of defect.

Here is a screenshot of earlier (an hour ago) battery performance.

    It is a 64 GB iPhone 4S

After ONE minute of STANDBY... 94%!!!!

Same for me. I have updated my 4s to 5.0.1 and made a reboot afterwards and killed all multitasking apps. Full battery went down over night to 60% in 10h doing absolutly nothing with the phone. Nearly all sync stuff is off.

Again, usage time is as before 50% of standby time telling me my phone was used for 5h over night.

It seemed even a bit worse than with ios 5.0.

@apple including new ceo: as long as you can not fix that, why is it forbitten to deactivate 3g service on my 4s. This is so stupid...
