I updated my 16gb white iphone 4s yestarday night to 5.0.1 and the update seems to be the same as the 5.0 am losing a 1% every 5min of using the phone I have changed majority of the settings to save battery Still the same if it was software related issue am sure the update would of fixed it i dont know what to do now i think there is a big problem with the 4s that apple dont want to admit and submitted an update which does nothing for the battery issue. If apple dont fix the battery problem am going back to the good old 4.

Try to reset your phone. it worked for me. gl

After installing update phone was fully charged at midnight.  This morning at 8AM just sitting on desk, not used at all, battery down to 59%.  Better take back some of those options issued to the iPhone geniuses - that'll motivate them to fix this problem.

how do you reset? pressing home and Sleep/Wake buttons for like 10 sec?

I give up. When manually turned off Iphone 4S, charged and  turned on to first 3 hours standby was good, when got SMS, wrote 3 messages and got 2 next battery was on 98%, now after 50 minutes is 97%, I dont know, what I have thinking about that, but however i don't see rather changes, anyway.

Sometimes just battery is better, sometimes very quickly lose %, maybe its not problem software?

P.S. Why only for Iphone 4S is problem with software, and on the rest hardware Apple, no? Its not strange?

I traded one for the other.

I left it on all night and (purposely) woke up to a dead iPhone.

Going to run Battery Doctor while charging all day and see if it helps.

I also updated my 4s to ios 5.0.1 this morning. This has made no difference to my battery loss either. Looks like there's still a few bugs left that haven't been rectified yet

Getting really fed up now with the 4s may just send it off to mazuma and go back to my 4 (which im so glad i have kept). The 4s is like an egg timer rather than a phone.......

Also in general - usage - the standy by time is correct, but as others have stated my usage time goes up on its own. so has anyone found what is using the phone in standby. I have tried everything posted by other's and nothing has helped so far. Really had high hopes for this patch. My Iphone 4 is fine on ios 5

P.S i can rule out hardware as Apple have already swapped my original 4s for another.

Just bought myself a very expensive iPhone 4S. Wish I didn't. The battery is dead within a few hours, wothout doing anything with it. The battery of my 4 year old iPhone was everything but good, but is definetly 100 times better than this one. :-(

This update is a total joke. A placebo. I'm having the same issue and if anything its worse! I'm at 91% and all I've done is play a game for a few mins. My old 3gs was much better. Seems to lose 1% almost every time i do anything. And this is my second phone in 2 weeks!!!

Well, i am sorry to say this, but i do not face such dramatic battery-sucking issues as many in this forum do, using the 4s in a rather moderate use so far.  I started this morning with 100%, did the update yesterday, now 6 hrs later in for me "normal" use, mostly without 3g, just a short time wifi use, a few msg, a little surfing, now and then switching between 2 and 3g, a few short calls, i still do have 84% left. For me that is pretty much okay. I did switch off all "hidden" battery suckers as so far beeing noticed in various posts in this forum. I will run a check to stress test this little pc to get a fair result in comparisson by using it in a full version of the "i don't mind what battery life you got" mode, in order to see if there is an issue.

I've updated to 5.0.1 and I still have very poor battery performance.

What is strange is that if I go to Settings->General->Usage, the Usage time is always more than 60% of Standby-time, even if I don't touch the phone, and with all settings turned off (notifications, wi-fi, cellulardata, iClous, bluetooth, siri, localizations, ...) and no background application running.

I have many friends that own an iPhone 4, and no of them have a such high usage time, compared to the real use they have with the phone.

I'm very disappointed. I think I'm going to give Apple back the phone.

Updated this morning... refresh the phone and using 5.0 .. it did actually consume less power... then now back to square one after 5.0.1  ! sxxt i shouldn't update it. !!!!

Ok ladies & Gents! Back on the grid with some new news about the mighty iOS5.0.1. Here are teh stats:

24 minutes of reading news on BBC APP and my battery went down to 96%, which also inculdes listening to two new voicemails of almost 1 minute each and standby time upto that point was 47 minutes.

So, in summary 47 minutes standby time and total of 26 minutes usage drained my battery 4%. It is even worst what i had before I used to get away with 98% by this ppint and now it's a total disaster!

This is clearly not an update, it's a downgrade!

i am now really tired of trying and wasting my time! May be it's time to give up!
