Updated to 5.0.1 with iPhone 4. Lost 6% overnight.

Hi Apple! I love this phone. But short battery life complicates my job. I had to buy battery chargers to my car and office. I thing, it is hardware problem because iOS 5.0.1. doesn´t solve this problem. I expect solution from you. I don´t wish you replace all sold iPhones 4S.

After update my 4S is the same if not worse. We know now this is defeniatly a hardware issue. This phone is just not pratical for everyday use. Have advised others not to buy. Which is a shame as I have advised others to buy all their other products.

Apple we need honesty fast or your reputation will suffer badly.

I have the same issue--25% battery drainage in an hour and a half...ios 5.0.1 update has not changed anything. What is going on? I know iphone 4 users who have had the same problem.

it's interesting to note that while my phone states 58% remaining, apps like Boost Magic and System Stat Lite report 55% then 60% as I watch them BOTH change in from of my eyes.  In the mean tine the phone still reports 58%.

Is anyone else finding that they are spending WAY TOO MUCH TIME trying to diagnose, troubleshoot, apply tweaks and fixes only to get a headache.  and the next thing I know I've gotten NOTHING done.  My productivity has dropped with the velocity of my battery.

I am spending way too much time now iMessaging iPhone owning friends to compare the rate of decline of battery levels.

I installed the iOS 5.0.1 patch at 9am...with almost no usage (3min call, no data usage), battery has drained to 89% within 3hrs. It feels very odd to see the percentage dwindle right before my eyes!

I think there are a couple different battery issues going on within this thread.

    1. Those with extremely fast battery drain even in standby(ex. phone dies overnight)

    2. Those (Me) who have only slightly worse than 4.x battery life.

I would imagine the 5.0.1 update will help people like me in category 2.  As for those in category 1, I think there is something else going on.  I bet those devices need to be swapped out at apple because there is some hardware issue, OR, my more likely opinion is that it is something that came over when you restored from backup.  I think those in category 1 may find their extreme battery drain issues go away after restoring the ios and setting up as new.  Either way.  Good luck to everyone.  The best thing we can do is just keep sharing and soon enough the truth will come out.

Number 2. There is no battery issue! DUAL CORE CPU AND GPU is THE issue. That's all!

Dual CPU and GPU - this is your answer!

What I hope Apple also realizes is that for every person posting on this forum, there are 100 more who aren't that are having the same problems. You can't say it's a "small number of people" with these issues because most people will not come to a forum like this...they will try and deal with it themselves, go to their carrier, or go the Apple store.  I truly hope Apple starts communicating FAST... I have always expected the best from them and have always got it, but this is getting way out of hand.

    quick 5 min phone call........

Does this seem like what others are getting?

Agreed, I am wasting way to much thought on this.  I have not accomplished any noticible savings in battery life regardless of my settings and whatnot.  Also, I too notice that the battery apps show much different than the iphone does.  Sometimes as much as 7% difference.

Installed iOS 5 last night and now my old phone, which used to work for at least 8-9 hours, just works for 3 hours,

The worst part is that it gets very hot!

Battery Drain...UGH!!  Installed 5.0.1.  This morning phone has been off AC power for 2.5 hours.  Battery at 89%. No phone calls, no usage of apps, WiFi enabled, no Siri usage, no internet searches.  This is terrible.  I cannot rely on the phone to last a day on a charge now.  I never had this issue with each of the prior versions of iPhone and I have had them all!!!  APPLE HELP!!!!!

I upgraded to 5.0.1 last night, and not using my phone at all (except whatever background stuff is running), and I'm observing it drop at the rate of 15% per hour. This thing isn't useable at this point.
