Folks PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE report this to Apple directly.

I currently have a case running with Apple UK customer services regarding my 4s Battery issues.  Do you want to know something shocking?  Mine is the only case she is dealing with apparently regarding battery issues,

So PLEASE. I can't stress this enough. Call your local Apple customer services centre and demand to speak to a senior customer service agent.

If every single person posting to this forum started calling Apple, then they would be forced to do something about this total screw up of a release.

My faith in this company has been ruined. Their arrogance supercedes their desire to release products that actually work.

I posted one hours and 13 minutes ago. My battery was at 93% then. It's now down to 89%. It's been in stanby almost the entire time. I went to music to look up a song. No texting. No email checking. No phone calls.

I am only just noticing now that I am watching this forum tick by on my iPad2 (iOS 5.0) and the battery on this has ticked down from 98% to 20% just now. I used to find the iPad battery life unbelievably impressive. (iPhone at 13% now for those following this thread). Leads one to believe ios5x or some features introduced by 5x are the reason for this problem.

I feel fairly sure apple monitors these forums for outbreaks of problems or public opinion topic peaks.

I was on with Apple Customer Care....nothing.

I went to the Apple Store personally and they just reinstalled iOS 5.0.1.

Working with Apple on it right now is not getting it done.

Apple will listen, eventually.  Or so we can all hope.

I did the upgrade yesterday and now had to charge battery three times today (and that's with loads of stuff turned off)!!! Think apple need to sort this soon. Think I will have to dig out one of my old phones to use at work. Not an idea situation.

While this most definitely helps you get through the day, no one should HAVE to buy one because of the poor battery life.   This shouldn't be happening at all. I did have a juice pack when I had my 3gs. It was absolutely essential for me to be able to get through the day.

Thankfully, I'm in and out of my car and can charge my phone there with a griffin car charger.  However, I'd be screwed if I went to an all day event with no way to charge my phone.

I know that is not the solution... but I will try

I will buy a Mophie. I know that is not a solution but can help us to survive and enjoy the iPhone.

Expensive, but worth to pay to save my battery

    Hope that helps.

Some people here are using and they are loving.

I am having horrible battery issues... Could this be possible be related to which network you are on?  2 of my co-workers us AT&T and have no battery issues.. I use Verizon and I've lost 50% of my battery life in 4 hours... with minimal usage.  I've turned off all suggest apps, location services, etc... still no luck.  This is my first Iphone and very likely my last.

    Testing 5.0.1 now.

I solved most of my battery issues with 5 by completely draining the battery two times and doing a full charge, not just one time. I can't explain why that worked but it did. It increased my standby time to over 24 hours with about 4 hours of usage from one charge. I still have all the Apple location services, iCloud and iPhoto Stream off with only location services turned on for apps I use that need them. Check mail set for 15 minutes. No push. Brightness on auto with the slider at about 65.

So far for 5.0.1 I have 2 hours of standay and 20 minutes of usage and am still showing 100%. This used to be a 15-25% drop before. Looks good so far.

If you're phone was doing  nothing and just in stand-by; no email checking, no incoming texts, no "behinds the scenes" location services, then I would have expected a 4% drop over an 8 hour period. (Half a percent each hour would put you at 200 hours standby time, which is the advertised standby time)

But your follow-up post about losing 4% is 1 hour 13 mins while in standby is a pretty dramatic drop.

I prefered apple left me another year with the iPhone 4 instead of selling me the 4S with these battery problems... wth apple... wth..

If you are having a lot of trouble with your battery life, turn OFF iCloud.

That little advancement with iOS5 is what is causing a LOT of battery issues. If you have a lot of data on your phone, like one of my practices doctors (40,000 pictures) and counting, your data to the cloud is running ALL the time.

Turn it off under your settings and you will see a big improvement.

iCloud doesn't "run all the time".  iCloud is simply a syncing service.  After the initial sync, iCloud uses little to no data.  Unless you are constantly making changes to your data.

Things that use a lot of data like PhotoStream only work over WiFi (and only sync 1000 photos).   Backup only occurs when the iPhone is plugged into power.

You can use an app like Netstat to see what connections the phone has open.  Normally it's only to the push server and any email (Exchange) servers.

I wasn't having a problem until I did the update, now my battery is going down like a car off a bridge.  Is it possible to undo the update?

  • mandg Level 1 (0 points)

updated, battery holds slightly longer. not a lot, though.

    right now i've got:

    usage: 7hrs, 22mins

    standby: 11hrs, 56mins

    16 %

almonst all location services turned off, siri raise to speak off. no other problems but this just blows, i had high hopes for the update.

what am i supposed to do now? i don't wanna return it, i need a phone.. apple, just fix it for fudges sake.
