Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

This is what fixed mine, who knows if it will work for yours but thought I would post.

For the Exchange users, disable calendar for the Notification Center:
-Settings | Notifications | Calendar | Toggle Notification Center Off

Disable the Notification Center for reminders:
-Settings | Notifications | Reminders | Toggle Notification Center Off

It's been about 4 hours with a little use and my charge is at 95%, before the change it would have been down to about 50%.

Hey guys I do not know what kind of Apple engineers are responsible

to find the battery drain bug but trhey have not looked in the right direction for the 5.0.1 so called fix.  They was working 3 weeks for that ?

Yet it is clear and I'm willing to bet that the problem is with the 3G.

    why?

First: Because if you replace the SIM card of your Iphone4S with one that does not allow 3G (rechargeable card that allows only the voice calls) then you will see that despite cellular data IS set to ON , no communication is possible on 3G and the battery drain problem has disappeared! set wifi ON and enjoy.

Battery life is now very good! You Can wifi surfing, reading emails

listen music etc.....battery level is now going down very slowly.

Second: When i put my original sim card into my previous iphone4  wich was updated

to IOS5.0.1 and has exacty same settings and apps (an much more),  then my "old"

iphone4 is working perfectly with no battery problem.

This is the big question: Why the 4S can't works properly with 3G and waste power ?

Why when checking standby time and used time,  we can find that on 4S, used time

is increasing fast even when phone is doing nothing while on iphone4 used data remains

very low  after several hours of standby ?

Apple should work on this. May be their new dual antena system  does not work as

    it should...

Anyway, please Apple, do not   let us wait for 3 weeks again to produce 5.0.2!

UPDATE: within 3 1/2 hours and little use (2 calls, dozen texts, few emails, and surfing the web for 15 minutes or so) it's now at 50%.  I am usually not at 50% until at least 1:00pm with way more calling going on.

Well, I've had all iPhones and am very happy with iPhone 4S's features, but this one is going straight back to T-Mobile (Netherlands).

Terrible battery life; much much worse than my iPhone 4 (which is not so good also after a year...)

Nice that T-Mobile has an 8 day return policy, no questions asked... Nice...

Hope that future versions will not have this problem. Totally unusable iPhone this...

    Usage: 51 minutes

Standby: 6 Hours and 45 minutes

Guys, I think that all engineers on Apple just out to lunch, totally OTL!!! I am software engineer by my professional with more than 15years experience and I can't believe , that from version to version Apple'sdevelopment department can't find solution of the problem. It's Joke , totally JOKE!!!

It's about time this make it to a major news medium.  Let's keep it going... reach out to all the new orginizations,  post the prolem on every forum you are subscribed to, skywriting, smoke signals, tattoos, etc...

    http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/11/11/iphone-owners-report-even-worse-batter y-life-with-ios-501/

But seriously Apple has no idea what they are doing here and it's obvious.  As a Director of IT my opion of tech products is highly regarded in both my professional and private circles.  I've never had a reason to speak poorly of Apple but that has changed.

after complain and complain about my iphone 4s in the apple forum, I went to apple store in Downtown San Francisco to get personal support 2 times, and guest what, after asking to the representative about my bad quality pictures and low battery issues, the first respond was, the front camera don't have the same quality and the places you are taking pictures is to dark, "I am a photographer" please... and the battery respond was... "Ho I have an iPhone 4s also and my phone don't have battery issue", I tell the representative "ok let's exchange phones, cuz my phone battery is bad".  he just loft at me...

and tell me to wait for the new software.  and let me tell you people, is not a software issue, is a hardware issue

I think in the new software, apple messed with the battery indicator to make it look like you are getting better battery life.

apple please be careful with the people. don't you promise thinks you can't deliver, you are aware about http://occupysf.com/

Yes. I've said this before. In big numbers, we can be heard. I've submitted Apple feedback twice and I've called Apple twice. I've also written to one of the major reviewers.  The term, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" holds true.

While I hope EVERYONE has submitted Apple feedback, I think we can submit feedback until we're blue in the face. It needs to be stepped up for Apple to step it up on a more urgent timeline.

    • Poor battery life
    • No toggle to turn 3G off
    • Siri has not been able to connect to its servers since 3 Novemer. (It is just now working intermintently with absolutely no connection whatsoever since 3 November.
    • Photo Album issues. Camera roll disappearing. Albums not working.
    • You guys can add to this list.

a few pages back somone posted about 'apple News Headline', half jokingly.  Well maybe that's not a bad idea.  It seems that perhaps there has not been enough mainstream news about this issue.  The other night, for example, my local news ran a story where Consumer Reports (who prooved themselved to be a joke with their report) reviewed a latest batch of smartphones including the iPhone 4s and they gave it a good review, making no mention of the issues many of us are facing.

Maybe if we all start hitting the majors with this... CNN, New York Timest, Fox, MSNBC, etc..  Nevermind slackers like Wired or other tech specific rags.  Lets make our voices heard more publicly than just these forums.

WHO'S WITH ME!!!!! <raises pitchfork high in the air>

I think they need to look closer at the differences between the 4S & the 4 as 5.0.1 seems not to have worked for the 4S but it certainly worked on my iphone 4. I still have the timezone in location services OFF but since I updated this afternoon I charged it to check & I'm on 99% after 3 hours on standby. a 23 minute phone call & about 10 mins playing infinity blade (which usually ***** battery life).

So for the iphone 4. All seems resolved.
