Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I really don't think calling someone names is constructive. I've actually done a hard reboot myself since updating to 5.0.1.  It can't hurt.  While it most definitely won't solve the battery issue, it is a good idea to 'reset' your phone every so often.

When you install an update on your computer, you almost always have to restart it. While the phone does restart automatically during an update, it does not hurt to do a hard boot to reset things.

My Verizon 4s battery life worsen after 5.0.1 update. With moderate usage, I used to have 80% battery life around 2pm but after update, I lost 20% with same moderate use by 11am. I thought that update suppose to fix battery life issue for others who have and not create issue with people who didn't have battery life issue before the update. I ditched Android phone solely because of great battery life iPhone has. What gives?

Yea, that's a pretty big drop per say.  BUT how many people here REALLY know how to TURN OFF ALL THE OPEN APPLICATIONS on their phones and REALLY do so?

Realize that LOCATION SERVICES now works on soooo many apps that that constant "checking" of your location thru cell towers WILL DRAIN the **** out of your battery!

There is NO FIX to this except to TURN OFF YOUR APPS when your done.  How do you do that?  Press down the HOME BUTTON TWICE select all the apps and DELETE.  That alone will save your battery, and guess what those apps run even in stand by.

I'm super anal about my battery life on the 4s. I always close my background applications right away so there's never anything open in the background. My wi-fi is always off unless i need it, location services are off unless i need it, push notifcations are all off, my brightness is as low as it can be, my e-mail does not automatically fetch new data, i turned off diagnostics and usage reports sent to apple, bluetooth is off, facetime is off. I also let my phone completely drain the battery before I charge it and never charge unless its at 1-2% or shuts itself off.

I've tried to optimize my phone for pro-longed usage by turning off features I don't really need on a daily basis. I've actually lasted between 3-4 days on one charge only using it when I seriously need it but typically get 1.5-2 days on one charge. It doesn't look like that will be the case with 5.0.1.

I've dropped 27% from 100% since this morning at 8AM and all I've done is play a Hanging with Friends. I watched battery life drain 5% just when trying to create one word for a friend. I haven't made any calls, sent texts, used Safari, listened to music or anything and the brightness is always low.

This is kind of discouraging since I'm so anal about prolonging battery life. I'm considering a system restore if I don't notice an improvement. But I can say that I haven't noticed any improvement with the new update and my battery is in fact draining faster than it did before I applied the update.

Nice. Now that it's pretty much solved they'll have time to focus on the video apology! Great news!

Dude, people are posting here to give Apple information. Calm down and go do something else if you don't have any.

    CMOZ,

Remember you will use more % playing games over 3G than wifi.

Under 3G its a phone call transmission, not a low level wifi signal.

I just updgraded to 5.0.1 today and now I repend, my battery life has seems to have only gone worst , each time I unlock phone check emails I can see the battery % go down right in front of my eyes !

I personally confirm battery life definately is NOT better.

Also hearing things like incoming calls are not showing callers from address book, seriously doube the QA here how can the most prime features been overlooked ?

Sorry man, I don't mean to come across as snarky, but posts such as these are less than helpful. There are 300 PAGES of posts here - of COURSE we tried turning off the calendar; that was about 275 pages ago. There is no simple fix... this is to let the powers that be know that the problem is ongoing.
