Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

i'm amused by people with hateful comments, if you don't like apple you have the freedom of choice to pick another product, if you just love to whine and wallow in misery with comments that's your own choice too : )

I do not see how a "SOFTWARE FIX" will make the battery last 4 or 5 times longer. The background app drain just wouldn't seem to me to draw such enormous amounts of current, not compared to talk or video or gaming.

Okay, so let's try to standardize all of our experiences so we can have some perspective on everyone's iPhone.

Use a Battery Monitor App to see what YOU SHOULD BE GETTING in terms of TALK TIME, INTERNET, ETC and see how it compares to your real world experience.

So, if you start with a 100% charged battery and the Battery App says you have 9 hours of 3G talk, and then you talk for 1/2 hour and the charge drops down to 80%, then the drain is a lot more than the estimated battery capacity.

I would then suspect that either the batteries are defective, or Apple was extremely optimistic in it's estimation.

Anyone want to join me in this?

This is antenna gate all over again.  The drain on my batter is rediculous.  While in airplane mode for one hour lost 12% of battery.  Either fix it or provide mass refunds because product is not as advertised and more importantly not up to the apple standards.  Get it together Cupertino

New 5.01 did not do much for me either. The same issue seems to be going on.

idk how many pages ago I noticed someone posted about how after they applied the update they lost the connection between contact name and numbers in their messenger and recent calls.  I noticed the same.  So i did a reset.  now I've got the names and nubmer re-assiciated BUT NOW my ticker for mesasges, phone calls, and mail is gone (you know, the little numbers in red circles).  I currently have 24 new unread emails but you wouldn't know it by looking at my phone.  You have to go into the mail to see if there are new items.  AND I'm down to 32% for the day and litterly the only thing I have doen with my phone all day is two calls under five minutes and read email.  Before I updated I could have expected to see about 50% at this point in the day.

I truly believe the more info we can give apple the better off we all will be.  lets try to keep our chins up folks... even though we are seemly taking on the very same chin.

I updated to 5.0.1 and my battery has been much better.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHARGING THROUGH THE COMPUTER AND NOT A WALL OUTLET

    Currently:

    Battery: 59%

    Usage: 3 Hours, 3 Minutes

    Standby: 18 Hours, 53 Minutes

3 email accounts all set to fetch data every 15min

Wi-Fi > Ask to join networks = Off

    All location services = On

System Services > Setting Time Zone = Off

System Services > Status Bar Icon = On

    Bluetooth = On

    Auto-Lock = 2min

I get this on average depending with push for icloud and fetch for emails..facebook for 30mins, reading this forum for a hour, news for a hour, some calls for 10mins and TIme Zone off, as well as iAds location and Ping...Verizon iPhone 4S in NYC . One problem I find thats always happening is when I go into a no signal area such as the subway my phone doesn't say No Service like most. It just says "Searching" anyone else notice the same thing??? Someones it does say No Service but thats 3 times out of 10..anyone else?

    Update:

    87% battery

    Usage: 1 Hour

Standby: 7 hours and 50 minutes

With that rate I can have only 4 hours and 30 minutes of battery.

    Right?

    (Crying - I cannot have 6-7 hours) :-(

Charging with the wall outlet for me was horrendous in terms of battery life. I posted a few pages ago regarding this. Here is what I have found:

    - Charging through the wall outlet =  fast charging & fast battery draining

    - Charging through the computer = slow charging & much better battery life

I SUGGEST TO LET YOUR BATTERY GET TO 0% THEN PLUG IT INTO THE COMPUTER AND LET IT CHARGE TO 100%.
