Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I get the same but the battery should be better. My last all day but still found the battery management is off by 3-5% plus their are lots of bugs on iOS 5

I am not an expert but it sounded like he removed all of the software and started over.  He said this could not be done at home and I did not have the ability to run this kind of diagnostics.

interesting, when i went to apple, they did the same test, and they just gave me a new phone...i'm not sure that fixed the problem though...maybe I need to go back to apple or something or just wait for the update...something is off thought thats for sure...

Apple will replace your iPhone but the problem is still in the iOS 5.

No the Diagnostic you can not do because they have the software to check it out but what they did they restore the ios5 on the phone which you can do yourself at home.

I can't give you names because I'm a developer but I can say Call Apple and they tell you they know about the problem.

@DocAaron - Its not a hardware problem have you not been reading these pages some people are on their 2nd phone and still reporting problems.

Have you not considered the process you went through with your new phone and perhaps that in 'your' case may have solved the problem.  Did you restore onto the new phone from an Icloud backup or set it up as a new phone ?.

This in my book is a software issue however to what degree it can be improved I dont know as it does seem as though the new chip is taking its toll on the battery,

Ive done two DFU restores, one with an Icloud restore and one as a new phone both resulting in the same drain for me.  Im getting around 5:30 usage on 15 hours standby which isnt massively bad like some people have experienced but I do think it should be better.  With the screen on its loosing about 1% every 3/4 minutes im finding.

Ive configured it as per pages and pages of posts previous.  To be honest im not happy with it id rather go back to my 3GS and wait for the 5.

Mac Beep Beep - are you suggesting this is some memory leakage within IOS 5 then? I've noticed in 3 days how bad this firmware update on my phone has been, the switched to the 4S and it's beyond ridiculous.

Just wanted to update everyone; they are aware of the issue and are working on it. I just got a phone call from Apple Engineering and was asked a series of questions.  No ETA on a fix, but they are aware of the problem and will hopefully have a solution for us sooner rather than later.

Why did they call you, have you been to an Apple Store? What did they ask you?

They said they read the discussion forums and that I was one of the people picked to get further questioned.  I don't know why and I don't know how many other people.  They asked me questions about my usage and setup.
