Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I did this weeks ago...didn't solve anything.  There is a deeper issue here.  Turning stuff off is not going to help.  I've tried it all.  Last resort exchange for a new one and see if that works?

Just to let you all know, my first 4S I got the day they came out had dismal battery life, 7 hours max with not much use, I done the settings below and it was fine after that,  looses about 2% an hour with normal use, but had a problem with the phone, if I made a call it would connect but I could not hear anything other than my own voice through the ear speaker and it would take two or three calls to get through ok, Apple sent me a new phone and I did exactly the same settings and the battery life on this phone is the same 2% per hour.001.JPG

The settings I tried were in the photo attached

Apple today issued a statement regarding the recent iOS 5.0.1 system update, which was meant to fix the iPhone's battery life. "The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues," said the company in a statement. iPhone owners have flooded Apple's support forums with complaints of worse battery performance since the software update was distributed.

Hi all I was having the same problem with my batteryi was getting about 5 hours max out of my full charge on my iPhone. I have now had it fixed and it was pretty simple! The issue seems to be with a corruption in the iOS download generally caused by a bad or disrupted connection in your Internet. I simply went into an apple store and reserved a time at their genius bar and asked them to do a full factory restore using their complete and tested iOS. I did this a few days ago and I haven't had a problem since. I do recommend that you either backp all you contacts to iCloud as you cannot do a restore from backup from your computer afterwards as this will reinstall the corrupt iOS. You need to manually sync your data back to your phone. I hope that helps everyone

    Hi Everyone,

If you have read I DON'T HAVE ANY BATTERY ISSUES

    Charge every 2-3 days.

What I have found in this update is that SYSTEM Process cleanup HAS improved !!!  This is a big drain due to processes that don't shut down after the app using them is closed.

I'm seeing about a 15-20% free memory increase. CPU usage% still the same. (reflects app running)

Still having issues with mine. Upgraded to 5.0.1 using OTA download and battery is completely horrid. Worse than what I had before. Useless upgrade, how do I downgrade?

    Update.

Going on four hours. Still receiving emails every 15 minutes, and sent and received 2 text messages.

Still at 100%. Everything still running.

From a full charge to 87% in less than an hour; the phone is justing sitting on my desk. Just about every feature is turned off.

What did 5.0.1 fix -- sure was not the battery issue.

Can anyone commetment on is this issue just with the I4S or does it happen on I4? I can return my 4S and go back to my I4 if the battery issue doesnot exist on a regular 4.

    Any feedback?

The IOS 5.0.1 update has helped battery life on my iPhone 3GS.  I have everything on, except for the automatic time zone.  The battery life now seems similar to what it was before installing IOS 5.0.  I also have iCloud on, which wasn't available prior to IOS 5.0, so my guess is that iCloud is not the culprit in whatever problems other people are having.

    Boostnma and Ram130:

    Those % are good.

Charging through MAC/PC USB is slower ( less current capacity though Port )

Supplied mini wall charger is better for better LIPO Charging.

I had these same issues on my 3GS after the 5.0.0 update. Went straight to the 4S last week or so.

After the update, both devices had the same issues.
