Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

You can have around 6-7 hours with 13% per hour * 7 is 97%.

This is what us Apple users get for getting conned into getting a phone that has virtually no upgraded features for another 300 bucks. The dual core will drain the batter, there is absolutely nothing Apple can do about it. I should have gone with Android...

I will be going to my grand parents tonight, my grampa has a iPhone 4, I have a iPhone 4S, and my grandma has a iPhone 4S. All on 5.0.1, I will run tests on all of them tonight to see if theres any major differences. Now we'll know if it's really a iPhone 4S issue or not.

UPDATE: This just in from Apple:

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”

Nice. Now that it's pretty much solved they'll have time to focus on the video apology! Great news!

Dude, people are posting here to give Apple information. Calm down and go do something else if you don't have any.

Nah, I'm no subservient cult follower and I won't be censored, friend.

    A good battery!

    mine is worse.

    black iphone 4s 32g

charging with supplied charger connected to electrical outlet, no computer

    bluetooth: disabled

    brightness: 25%

    brightness: auto adjust

    Siri: enabled

    Siri: English (united states)

    Siri: feedback- always

    Siri: Raise o speak enabled

Siri:  allow access when locked with a passcode : enabled

    Location services enabled

    Wireless/wifi enabled

wifi: ask to join networks - disabled

    auto-lock: 2 minutes

    passcode lock: enabled

    Diagnostics and usage: automatically send

    location services/system services/setting timezone: disabled

currently battery is at 67% after 5 hours. in that five hours i have read two emails, sent one email, revieved and read ten text messages, sent eight text messages and read news feeds with NewsRack once. 33% of the battery for that seems steep.

prior to the 5.0.1 release i have tried all suggestions i have seen none resulting in better battery life. even erasing the phone and starting as new did not help. i have had an iphone since the initial release so the thought that maybe i had some setting or corruption did not seem far fetched. did not help.

i read earlier today that disabling the "raise to speak" for Siri might be in order. i am going to try that now.

Here is an other test (origanl post => https://discussions.apple.com/message/16696860#16696860 )

I've listen to one hour music by wifi with free air media ( free is a french provider an air media is the same thing like Apple aie media).

    look at the capture

    photo(1).PNG

If you compare the Use (utilisation) 2h46 & 1h42, that is to say one hour of listenning music by wifi.

    And only 18¨% discrease.

So change somes settings to have more batterie life, Look at the link on the top.

I've turned about everything off that could use network and location services. This is including all notification stuff, iCloud, Message Center etc...

Signed out of the app store etc..

Still if I use the netstat app, I see a constant connection to a host ****-courier****.push.apple.com, most of the time it is idle (but connected), couldn't this be consuming power all the time?

I think Apple will better get the point once people start returning their phones massively. You can return it within 14 days since you recieved it if bought through apple.com. I have my return label printed out and ready to go...

My iPhone 4s is worse after the upgrade. Losing 7% every 15 mins. Even though I am not using my iPhone. Disgusting Apple. Sort it out. This is my first iPhone. I have only owned it for a week. Seriously considering going back to a Samsung and android!!!!!
