Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    It seems like the major issue where people's batteries were draining at about 10% an hour on standby have largely disappeared.

    However, my issue has not been solved! Since I've had my iPhone 4S the battery has been a problem. It hasn't been draining at warp speed but it is definitely going down faster than it should, like 1% an hour on standby. Much quicker with usage, 1% every few minutes of browsing.

    My iPhone runs warm-ish and is definitely not putting in the performance advertised by Apple. 200 hours standby? No way. 6 hours of video? Not a chance. If I got an hour of video out of it I'd be surprised.

    Please fix it Apple!

    Okay, so I'm almost to my grand parents. I have 4 iPhones to run tests on, 2 iPhone 4S's, and 2 iPhone 4's one of the iPhone 4s is on 4.3.x and the other is on 5.0.1. What tests would you guys like me to run?

    Okay, just report on iphone4S and then on Iphone4 , both running 5..0.1

    what are the statistics  "used time and standby time" on same conditions

    that means 3G and Wifi ON  and identical settings, with no apps running

    both phone doing nothing for 2 hours.

    Of course starting from 100% what are the remaining percent and used time

    2 hours later.

    Yup, I agree, would be nice. I am relatively new to the iPhone and am liking my device (had BB before). There is so much still to discover, but it's quite annoying having to worry about the battery constantly. Even with minimum usage, by the time the lunch hour comes around, the phone is already down to 60% (after a full charge). I now have chargers everywhere, but it means that for an international flight, for instance, I'll be out of battery pretty quickly. I had hoped that yesterday's release would fix this, but it didn't. Very disappointing.

    This is what us Apple users get for getting conned into getting a phone that has virtually no upgraded features for another 300 bucks. The dual core will drain the batter, there is absolutely nothing Apple can do about it. I should have gone with Android...

    Ok an android phone has better batter life using flash which adobe has said it can't make work right on mobile devices yet. Hmmm go ahead and go to that inferior android phone. Bye.

    Thanks. I guess I'm stll expecting to see 2 days battery life like I've herd iPhone users have been getting. Heres something ironic.

    My Droid X was annoying the **** out of me with battery life. I would get around 12 hours battery life each day before I get the plug in warning. Anyway now that I've been on my 4s the DX seems to be having 2 day battery life. Here's a comparsion:

    Both DX and 4s was unplugged around the same time. After 2hours my DX was still at 100% while my 4s dropped to 98%..

    If apple wants, they can contact me but really, I was just expecting better battery life than my droid. So far it's better, but not by alot. I guess I just feel lucky I don't have the type of drain some have here but I'm still leaning to either returning it or replacing it..maybe we should test each other phones? I'm in NY, we could meet and compare phones..lol

    I have a 4s and yesterday I was pretty happy with my battery life.  Today after the update it was going down 1% every few minutes no matter what.  Even on airplane mode with minimal battery it was going down at a steady rate.  One thing that was very strange is once it got to 1% left it stayed there for almost an hour.......

    Mine is the same if not worse than before the update.  I also still show that my CPU load is never below 50%, and my memory load is almost always maxed out (if not close).  [I'm using MemStatus, and System Max apps for that]

    Went to the genius bar today, and they told me my phone was apperating like it should...no hardware issues.  They told me my usage was normal, and that they too get about a days worth of use out of theirs.  After years of holding off on getting a smartphone, I'm dissapointed in my decision...I truly find no enjoyment in using this thing when I have to constantly worry about usage and battery life.

    UPDATE:  For some reason my messages are all messed up too.  None of my contacts in my message dropdown have names anymore (contact list appears to be fine).  I just sent a message to someone I've sent many to before, and he had no idea who I was...instead of my number or name, my email address showed up.

    This was a very large purchase and investment on my part to go for this (data plan and phone) and wow......Apple has me definitely regretting it.

    If you're having issues with the messaging aspect, then disable iMessaging.

    There is a difference charging through the computer vs through the wall outlet. Should both work the same? Yes, but they haven't for me. Could be due to differences in the amount of power sent by each. I was having horrible battery life when charging through the wall outlet. Now that I charge throug the computer I am have no issues.

    Currently:

    Battery = 14%

    Usage = 5 hours 22 minutes

    Standby = 23 hours 59 minutes

    I also used waze gps app for about 1 hour

    All I'm asking is to state how you are charging the battery when posting, and try charging through the computer to see if you notice a difference as I have.

    Reset my phone last night and installed update but there was no noticable difference with battery life, it was on the same percentage this morning as it usually is with a evening charge, Noticed today though that Siri sounds different and not as clear as it used to be.
