Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    Okay I had the same problem on my iPhone 4 S. My battery drained very quickly, I found a solution to this on another forum site which was very affective for me and has solved my battery issues. Also people have had the same problem when they've downloaded OS5 on an iPhone 4. So you may want to try this if you've got an iPhone 4 that now has battery issues. Don't know how it worked but it did for me. Here's what to do:-

    You need to delete your email accounts. Go to, SETTINGS>MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDARS> (touch the email account you wish to delete) DELETE ACCOUNT. (repeat for all accounts) . Reset your iPhone (holding down both home and lock buttons). Start your phone back up and re-add your email accounts.

    Hope this works for you. :)

    We bought Iphone 4s when they came out and each has the same issue-significant, shortened battery life. Bought 3 cigarette lighter adapters to keep them plugged in while in the cars.....I figured that it was some reset or initially charging the phone before the battery ran out (sometimes recommended with other rechargable items....Hope there's a fix out there soon. Love the phone otherwise; couldn't be happier.

    I think I found what's the problem is. First their is a bug in the battery management iOS 5 software. Apple need to fix this. I fix my problem by resetting the phone and tune it on and off. Then I download the App BATTERY DOCTOR. This app tell you how your iPhone is doing. What I see even that your iPhone say you has a full charge you don't. My phone say it has but after 2 hours or so more the App show me I have a full charge. Now my 4/S has a good charge. But after the next recharge I go back to bad charge. I have to back and do it over again

    Apple just called  me,  I spent 20 minutes going through all my settings.  The guy was very helpful but non-committal as to what is going to happen next other than the engineers have been reaching to people to track it down.

    I got that app as well last night and it showed similar results as you got.The phone said it was 100% but the app said I needed another 1hr 45min so I let it charge but unfortunatelty the battery drained just as fast today.

    My call came from a 916 area code, which is Sacramento. Apple does have a campus there.

    Here's a few things I find interesting;

    I called Apple support last night and they said they are not aware of any battery problems. He then proceeded to have me do a factory reset. After recharging all night (and yes I have done several FULL recharges), I unplugged my phone and within one hour it already dropped 4% with absolutely no use and almost everything on it shut off.

    Also, if this is truly a software issue, why are there so many people with 4s that have absolutely no problems at all. Further, if you read throught these very forums, you will also find people who have exhanged their phones and have no issues now.

    I'd also like to hear from the guy with 2 4s with different battery usage results...really want to know how they still compare.

    Lol. That's funny. I was going to exchange both my phones but since it seems they are working on a fix I'm gonna wait it out. If it turns out to be a hardware issue I'm sure Apple will exchange them.

    FYI, I was on with support today, I told him the issue I was having with the battery and he said that should not happen. We restored the phone, battery still was dropping a percentage point every 5 minutes without any usage. I used the  stop watch widget on the phone the track the timing of the power drop.  Ultimately he basically said I should receive a new phone. They have no answers right now.

    I have been attempting to isolate the battery drain issue over the past days. After multiple test regimes and review of syslogs etc., there seem to be at least two issues affecting my battery drain: exhange accounts and battery management. I have now restored my phone as new, two separate times. Each time I have slowly added back in features and whenever i add back exchange accounts I seem to see a steeper fall off on drain. And the accounts are configured manual all the way through mail and calendar. What is very disturbing is that with a clean restore and everything turned off (notifications, cellular data, icloud, push, wifi, etc) i still observe battery drops that do Not support the advertised runtimes in various iphone modes. In fact it is roughly half of what the advertised rates would suggest. When I inspect the syslogs there are several aspd connection attempts with no active mail accounts (supposedly a known issue). Overall the restore as new has at least slowed the drain issue but it is still very rapid when even completing the most basic operations.

    If any apple engineers are monitoring this thread I am glad to take a call and provide more details on my configuration and test results through the last days.

    Yesterday I picked up my reserved White iPhone 4S 32 GB at the Apple store, since they take reservations at 9 PM and have it pick it up next day. I also drained my completely to calibrate it on first use. To me I see an improvement and I don't experience any drainage.
