Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I have an iPhone 4 and had massive battery drain problems after updating to ios5. After lots of reading and fiddling I managed to get the drain down to except able levels. The problem now is since the update to 5.01 the problem is back and no matter what I do it's not getting any better. Apple sort this out you have ruined a fantastic phone.

Its a common problem and Apple is working on fixing it, but the best you can do is keep your wifi off when not needed same with blutooth and kill app your apps not needed by double clicking the home button the clicking and holding on an app untill it wiggles, then hit the - (minus) button to quit the app.

Since the battery drain problem is NOT reported by all 4S users,

Apple said a few number only !!!

I am wondering if it could be ISP dependant or more often on GSM

or CDMA devices since the problem seems related to the use of

    3G network.

How could we know that ?

Some of you having or not problem could  answer to get an idea.?

    Apple,

    Are you having a laugh?

This 5.0.1 update has made my battery life much worse than it was before.

I just woke up and I've lost 20% over night and typing this post I've lost another 5%.

Don't blame me or my settings because they are exactly the same as they were on 5.0 and I've not downloaded any new apps.

Most of my stuff is turned off still having followed all the battery saving tips.

    What is going on???

Same to me. With 5.0.1 I lost more than 30% overnight in standby, WiFi disabled.

this will help you, for me its helped.

Back up your data and than setup your iphone as NEW and than restore data. Once you connect your iphone to itunes and backup you can restore your phone.Than restore your data back you won't loose anything.

4% lost in 5 minutes and not even using 3G.

Just checking email and checking google news site.

I am visiting China and wanted to use as my GPS / Mapping to explore the city for a day but there is no way it would last.

Really disappointed Apple...I think this needs to be returned as soon as I return and pickup a cheap iphone 4 from craigslist.

iOS 5.0.1 has make it worse. When I start reading this thread it was 93%, now after 5 minutes it's 88%. I had a decent battery life with ios 5.

I have switched off everything. Did a restore, reset etc. but nothing helped.

Btw it just dropped by 1% while typing this.

Now installing iOs 5.0.1 --> Battery drop of 6% in 30 minutes, 7 minutes of use, and a stand-by time which is the same as the usage-time.

    It's dramatically.

Going to sleep with my sleeptimer on, won't wake me up the next morning. Battery drains totally within 5 hours without any usage. Standby-time and usage time is the same.

This problems just started 3 weeks ago.

2 week before the problems started I installated 5.0, so I can't see any relationship with the problem and the update.

iOs 5.0 was installed  before, problems started not directly after the upgrade, but about 2 weeks later.

    Before 5.0 everything was ok.

    Very bad.......................

Hi everyone. I can count in all my family one 3gs, two 4 and an ipad2.

I've upgraded all to 5, and now to 5.0.1.

    This was what i've got:

3GS: battery life was a mess. After syncing all apps, music, foto and video I've done a factory reset and re-sync. After that, battery could be considered even better than ios4

4: no major issues here, but after what happened with 3GS I decided to factory reset the two iphone4, too

Ipad2: same as 4, but I've noticed that framerate in games is a lot worse, but this is off-topic

My next step would be to upgrade 3gs to 4s, but I'm a bit worried about what is happening to you all.

Iphone 4s is completely different in hardware to iphone4... it could be an hardware problem, but it seems that someone isn't having battery problems or even has solved them!

I could bet some money that it's a configuration problem, but all my device have almost everything on (bluetooth, 3G, WiFi, location service, icloud - except backup, mail with exchange profile with push) and my iphones, even the one I'm using at work last almost two days on one battery charge.

It's all a bit confusing, but IF it was an hardware problem related to iphone 4s, every iphone4s (or at least an easily identifiable production lot) would experience it.

Same problem here. I lost 20% in 2 hours without using it. All apps have been removed from the multitasking bar, so where is this **** battery going?

I updated my iPhone 4S 64GB AT&T from iOS 5 to 5.0.1 and it drains the battery even quicker. This was coming from a fresh restore too. The phone only lasts me about half the day on moderate use. Disappointed.

I too own a iPhone 4 and upgraded to IOS 5, battery life turned out to be bad, I then upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 and it has improved but it is nothing like the battery life I was experiencing before the upgrade to IOS 5.

The bad thing about Apple is they refuse (via the software) to let you downgrade back down to the last version of software on my iPhone 4 before the upgrade. For some reason, I thought it was my phone and I could have any version of software I wanted on it.

When it comes to an upgrade this next time, you can bet it will not automatically be the latest Apple has to offer.
