Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

my phone was doing the same thing- 10% per hour.  I turned OFF the option for iTunes wi-fi sync and this seemed to totally fix it.  Before doing this I also restored the software and set up as a new device, but the iTunes wi-fi thing seemed to be the cause of the problem for my phone.

I understand everyone's frustration with the battery drain on standby.  I udpated to 5.01 eager to see better results but it did not fix the standby battery drain issue for me.  And so I finally decided to do a factory restore and restart from stratch...

I have since setup my iPhone with all my apps, exchange contacts, calendar, email, etc., iCloud with photostream, the same settings as before. The only difference was I did not restore from backup, I had to re-enter all my settings.  Finally: Dramatically improved battery life!!!

If you're still having trouble but have not done a factory restore, give it a shot.  It fixed everything for me.  I've barely touched my phone today after about 8 hrs of standby it's still at 99%.

    Hey all,

Again, don't be so mad that you are reluctant to do a few hard resets. I suspect there's an issue with perhaps not actual 'battery draining', but the reporting of battery having drained. After three resets, then plug into WALL until battery 100%, I'm still seeing 99% on my phone after 2 hours. (very little use, but still impressive). I was ready to send my phone back, now I'm a happy camper.

I am now convinced the battery bar is an issue it was fully charged the plug symbol was shown. I did a hard reset than plugged the phone back in for the past hour its at 100% with the lightning bolt. :S

My biggest regret is replying to this message, I get about 50 email notifications a day on this $h!t.  I gone I to preferences and turned off email notifications, but I still get them.  F U Apple.

Btw after update, 8:18pm I have been unplugged for 10 hours , heavier use than normal and I'm at 87% before update, same usage I would be at 35%

So something got fixed.  Now if everyone would just stop b!tching so I could quit getting these **** updates on my iPhone

If your not happy with that get rid of the phone BUT PLEASE QUIT whining!

Its not that big of a deal. There is a lot more in the world to worry about like the price of a gallon of gas.

    Thank goodness!

<<Sounds like a bunh of people that dont know how to fix the phone.>>

What is a "bunh" of people?

<<I have used/read the answer 350,000 times on this thread.>>

Really? You actually counted the number of times you read the answer? Did it take 305,000 times for the answer to sink in? Why would you need to read it 350,000 times??

<<READ THE **** ANSWER AND SHUT UP. It s not broken! D@#Mit!>>

Hey, whoah, calm down, there, buddy. You might throw a gasket. Wow, anger and bossy...that's quite a combo! Yeah, I think not replying anymore is good for your health. Also, be sure to warn your close friends and family about your temper.

    Best!

I thought that was your last reply.

<<Like the price of a gallon of gas>>

Is this something worrying about will remedy? If not...isn't this bad advice? Can you lower the price of gas with the power of WORRY?

    Thought not.

Now that funny! So I am a little tired of the emails and the cry babys. Go ahead and say I am angry. I am the one with tears from cracking up. This is so simple to fix. Read the directions from those that have it corrected and follow them.

    Cheers!

    Hi Mike,

Well, if you read through, the fixes aren't working for everyone. Also, some are working for some, while others are working for others. I can understand the frustration. I found my fix, though. Woot! It's just a messageboard. Shouldn't be taken too seriously.

    Cheers!
